Hi everyone,

It's been a few months since I was able to get them all and everything is going well except for with the last one that we rescued. She doesn't get along with the other cats, is going to the bathroom all over the house and it's becoming a stressful environment at home. I want to try and find her a home where she can be the focus or at least feel safer. Right now, she only comes out if I'm around and she lets me pet her but she just doesn't get the bathroom part and does not like the other animals. two dogs here and five other cats... any thoughts?

Her doing over all the house may perhaps be because she feels unsafe in the litter? It is not unusual hostile / mobbing cats attacks when their "prey" in in the litter...
Ie, her doing in the litter is part of the whole, her feeling unsecure and unsafe...

Had you tried with Feliway-diffuser?? With a little luck this may be the bit making the difference here.

Is there any way she can be confined to one room? It may just be that she needs to feel safe for a little while. Did she ever use the litter box? When we have a new rescue, we usually have to soak up the first pee with some paper towels and put it in the litter box, and scoop up the poop and put it in the box - then they usually get it. Or cover the box with potting soil or leaves or something - whatever the normal ground cover is.

Has she been to the vet and you're sure she doesn't have a medical problem causing the peeing and pooping?

And you've been cleaning where she's gone outside of the box with a good enzyme cleaner? If the smell isn't cleaned up to her sense of smell, the scent will continue to encourage her.

But I agree with Stefan - if it's not a medical problem, it's likely she just doesn't feel safe. If there's any way you've got a bathroom large enough or a guest bedroom or anything where she can be alone for a few weeks, it'll really help - and make her more easily adoptable because she's using the boxes.

Feliway could be really helpful here. As could adding Bach's Rescue Remedy (flower essences) drops to her fresh water every day.
