We have a small garden in our backyard and today was the day that we decided to harvest the rest of our green beans because the plants are really starting to get stressed out from the extremely hot temps we've been having. We ended up with a mop bucket full of the green things. I brought them in and set them on the floor in the kitchen so that I could clear off the counter and get the colander out to start cleaning them. No sooner had I turned my back when the Hannah-girl had her nose in the bucket checking everything out. I shooed her away before she could nab anything and went on about my business.
Fast forward a few hours to when I come home from getting a haircut to find the husband fussing at Hannah for being up on the counter trying to nab a green bean from the colander.
She got down, again empty-pawed, and sulked away. A few minutes later, she found the bucket where DH was putting the ends and poked her nose in there. Again, the husband fussed at her and sent her away empty-pawed.
Thankfully, the Meowmy was home and knew that Hannah has a raw green bean fetish and she loves to play with the bean pods. So I tossed her a pod that was really too much past its prime for human consumption. She was so happy and had so much fun tossing it in the air, jumping at it, batting it around, and running around the house with it in her mouth. She ended up with 3 pods and played with them for at least 30 minutes. They're still on the floor, and she'll probably play with them again later this evening.
Sometimes it's the simple things that bring us all laughter and joy.
