Here near Lake Ontario people felt it. It was near Ottawa, Ont. 5.5 which is good size for this area I think.

I was outside and didn't feel anything.

I'm pretty certain that I felt the earthquake. Unless, that is, of course, that northeastern Ohio had an earthquake of its own. But, the news reports are saying that the quake was felt as far south as Cincinnati and so I'm confident in that I did feel it.

I had been sitting on the sofa in front of my laptop when, all of the sudden, I felt as though I were rocking on a boat. It was slight, but still enough to be noticed. We have a windchime in the mud-room (completely enclosed with no windows open) that was jingling at the same time and my one dog became anxious. I, at first, thought I was having a light-headed, vertigo spell, but it turns out I was feeling something externally rather than internally. Even the local news stations back up my claim.

Like I said, it was mild. But, there was most definitely a rocking motion. The walls weren't shaking, but I did here some faint rumbling. It was interesting, but I think that's about as close to an earthquake I ever want to be (and this was my first experience with a quake). All in all, I just hope no one was injured and too much damage wasn't done.

None of my family felt it at their houses, but everyone was outside. I don't think you can feel it as well there.

Ohio is quite a ways from up in Canada. Makes you realize how powerful the earth really is.

I can't imagine living right on a fault. I think I would pitch a tent and sleep there at night!

I definitely felt it here in southern Ontario. Surprised at all the shaking, it was really noticable and the birds were all in an uproar outside. The cats weren't fussed at all though. Glad that doesn't happen very often!

I felt it here. I was laying on the couch watching tv and I thought my puppy was jumping on the couch but I looked over and he was asleep on the lazy boy chair. I didn't really think anything of it until I found out there was an earthquake.

Yep, things were flying of the walls and smashing, and our bookcases at work flung all the binders onto the floor. It was scary. Biggest EQ I have ever been in.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Several areas in the Midwest reported feeling it. I know that Indianapolis had reports as well. I didn't, but reports said those that felt it were those in tall buildings, towards the top floors. *shrug*

Hope everyone is OK!

I had a few friends who live up north in Jersey and New York say the felt a little bit.

I learned a couple years ago that Summerville is on a fault line in SC. We had a couple earthquakes in the last few years. One last year hubby heard at his shop and thought it was a car backfiring. I haven't experienced one or noticed one yet.

Oh yes...certainly felt it. Thought at first that a jackhammer had started up down the street...but it got louder and louder. The water in my glass started jumping all over the place, the cat's eyes got really big...and I wondered where my other cat was.
I thought the house was starting to do something bad, but I knew I wouldn't leave without both my cats.....
I was really worried. We don't experience enough of them to get to know 'the feeling'. Our house is solid and built on rock....but just thinking about how I was feeling at that moment yesterday...my heart is starting to pound.

The epicenter was less than 50 miles from Ottawa...phew, that's too close!!!!!

According to Earthquake Canada (yes, that's a Gov't dept
), Ottawa experiences 150 earthquakes a year....thank goodness we rarely feel any of them.

All is well today. Except for the collapsed bridge in Quebec...no one was hurt.
