Feral Miracle!

We've had our feral kitten for almost 3 months exactly. We think she is 7 months old now. Things have drastically improved since finding her and bringing her home. She has gone from skittish and hiding most of the time to sitting on the chair watching us as we sit on the couch. We could pet her while she ate her cat treats, but only then. Slowly she started to make cat sounds.

AND THEN LAST NIGHT, my husband put his fist out for her to smell. And she rubbed against it. And it was like a switch went off in her little brain and she became OK with us. And now our dear little cat likes to be petted! And she purrs! We are so excited that she likes us too.

That's so wonderful! Congratulations. Nothing better than when that switch goes off and they love you, right?

It is so exciting. She has really turned into a cuddle bunny. Hopefully she won't realize I'm taking advantage of her trust when I put her into the cage, take her to the vet for the works on Friday morning.

Hmmmmmmm, anyone else think the "switch" might have been triggered by kitty's first heat cycle?

In any case, it's a great thing! Enjoy!

Nope, she was in heat a few weeks ago. It was awful for all parties involved.

for tomorrow! We find they're always wanting more love than usual when they come home - they're under the effects of the anesthesia and just really happy you didn't leave them there!

OT here - that's what happened with Ghost. Took him for a much-needed dental. Left a smelly shirt for him at the vets to help comfort him. I wondered if he had kitty flashbacks to being dumped at the pound. The difference this time was that Meowmy came back for him. Even in his anesthetic stupor, he was preaching all over me and tried to climb onto my left shoulder, which is his habit. I tell him all the time how much I love him. ( I tell all of them that, but he is my special boy!)

Emily dickinson, because the first couple weeks she was very timid.
