What I'm objecting to is rumors with no basis in truth, e.g., because two liberals worked on one of many, many projects funded by a huge foundation 10 years ago, the entire organization is somehow conspiring to support liberals or lie about Obama's birth certificate. As I said, the Factcheck site is critical of both liberals and conservatives, so I don't see any evidence for the "liberal mouthpiece" charge.

Then again, I guess the willingness the believe in such conspiracy theories is at the heart of this thread.
Yahoo made the "liberal mouthpiece charge." I only wrote it here. The title of this thread is IMO. That being said, we all must remember everything anyone writes here is an opinion, none of it necessarily the truth. Everyone must do their own research and draw their own conclusions.

I absolutely agree with you; hence my posts. In this particular example, people should do some research before trying to smear the Annenberg Foundation by exaggerating and distorting its connection to Bill Ayers.

He was an eyewitness and has a long history of civil rights and voting rights advocacy and litigation. Or did you not watch it?

I read it all on CNN

Bringing us right back to where we started.

However, the Annenberg Foundation is a very large philanthropic organization with numerous ongoing projects. I'm sure a great many people of all political stripes have connections to them. (In fact, Walter and Leonore Annenberg had close ties to Ronald and Nancy Reagan, both professionally and socially.)

Some still question Obama's birth and eligibility to run again for President of the US.

I listened to this interview. Good post mrblanche. Thanks.

Well, I can't argue with you there: some DO still question his eligibility, proving once again that for some, ideology always trumps the cold, hard facts.

Nobody who has read this thread has the cold hard facts unless they have seen the birth certificate. We are all just reading what someone else says and deciding what we choose to believe. That include me and you.

You're right; we have to rely on others' reports. That's why making a critical assessment when choosing sources of information is so important.

When you provide convincing evidence that all those supporting the claim Obama was born in the US - not just web sites and journalists who say they've seen the certificate, but people working in Hawaii (in the hospital involved, the Department of Health, and the newspaper that announced the birth back in the 1960s) - are lying, I'll pay a little more attention to Mr. Farah and WorldNetDaily, who have, as another poster already mentioned, been sued for libel.

And even then, you'd still have to show why being born to an American mother overseas rather than in the US disqualifies Obama from the office.

What is your source for convincing evidence.

Oh, you have a source? With documented evidence from people who don't make money from selling anti-Obama bumper stickers? With testimony from witnesses who can show us that the birth announcements from both the Honolulu Advertiser and the Star-Bulletin were never printed? Please alert every newspaper and television station you can, because I'm sure they'll be very interested.

Seriously, the "birthers" are right up there with people who say smoking tobacco doesn't cause lung cancer, or that NASA never sent anyone to the moon. I'm sure I can't change their minds, either.

I have no idea what you are saying. You have read a lot into this thread that simply isn't there. I have not stated my beliefs about Mr. Obama's birth certificate. I posted two articles that state that it is still a subject being kicked around. I was attacked from all sides because one of them happened to be WND. Only then did I say anything about anyone else's source for their beliefs, i.e. Factcheck. WND is not the only place I have read about it. Just for the record, I find it hard to believe that three judges from the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals would be spending their time and our dollars to review this case if it was a done deal.
By the way, calling me a birther is presumptuous on your part when as I said I have not stated my beliefs about it one way or another. You have made it plain what you believe and I respect your right to read and believe what you want to. I have that right also, even though I have not told you what I believe. I just told you what I read and you assumed a lot just because of where I read it. I am finished with this thread because I refuse to kick a dead horse any longer.

I don't think I ever called you a "birther" outright, although I did assume you were sympathetic with their goals, given your previous posts. Glad to hear you aren't one!
