I have an approximately 7 week old kitten who I am keeping in a dog kennel in my bedroom. I have kitten proofed my room but I have a floor to ceiling cat tree and a 4 1/5 foot cat condo in the room for the older cats. I didn't think she would be able to climb them yet but I let her out of the kennel and she was at the top of the floor to ceiling in a matter of seconds. Should I move them out of my room for now? I plan on letting her out in my room with the door closed while I am in here but I can't supervise her every second and I am worried about her falling off. Also she can climb up on to my bed if she fell off the bed would she be ok? It isn't exceptionally high off the floor but is raised on on a bed frame.

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

Well, my kittens when they were that age fell now and then. No one was seriously hurt. They just bounded back to what they were doing.
Is the floor carpeted? Kittens have an incredible ability, and urge to climb. If she was up the tree in seconds, I wouldn't worry too much. That is what they do. If you want, place some pillows at the bottom of the tree to cushion her if she falls.
Maybe someone else can chime in.

I agree with above. When Lola was that old she was climbing everywhere. Still is
Lola would fall but I just made sure she wasn't injured and let her keep going. It's how she learned. And part of her exploration process.

I also agree.

I had a kitten that age climb 10+ feet up a tree and lounge there(when he was done he just climbed back down so he wasn't stuck and he did it more than once.) I only freaked out the first time I saw it. They also loved to rest on my neighbor's roof, they would sleep in her gutter or just stretch out on the roof. Kittens climb, the others saw the one climb the tree and decided to try it themselves, they didn't climb as high but they still climbed the tree.
I wouldn't worry about it, she'll be fine. Even if she were to fall she would be fine(especially if you have carpet), but it sounds like she knows how to handle herself if she was able to scramble up it so fast. Mine have jumped down from higher than 4 1/2 feet, they do it all the time when they use the shed to get off our roof. They climb the latticework to get to the shed and then climb the shed and get on the roof and play. The neighbor also hears them on her roof. They have gone on her roof by climbing a tree since they were little, like I said I found 5 of them on her roof when they were 6-8 weeks old.
Kittens climb and seriously she will be fine. Like I said mine climbed a lot higher than that when they were little.

Thanks for the replies!
I have hardwood floors does that change any minds? She is also under 2 lbs.
It gives me something close to a heart attack every time I watch her climb up there. I put some pillows around the bottom and I am trying to relax a bit. I don't want to discourage her from using the cat furniture I just wish she would wait until she was 6 months old.
Lola seems to be a popular kitty name
Edit: This kitten must have some monkey blood! She climbs EVERYTHING! I wish I had a padded room to keep her in until she gets bigger. My nerves are jumping just watching her. I am so worried she is going to fall and break her neck! Ugh!

I'm no expert, but I am paranoid
, so if I had a little Lola, I'd put pillows or a thick blanket down around the cat tree to cusion her fall. Better safe than sorry! I also wouldn't discourage her from playing on it either, since cat trees are better to climb than curtains and such.

If it makes you feel better cushion below it but mine would jump onto hard ground so they are ok. Having hard wood shouldn't make any difference. She won't jump from the top but even if she did she shouldn't get hurt.
Like I said if it gives you peace of mind then cushion the bottom but she shouldn't hurt herself.
