It doesn't seem that things will ever get better. I adopted 2 cats last week (emergency - their owner died and otherwise they would be put to sleep). I feel I'm not spending enough time with my other cats since they're separated and the newbies are staying in my bedroom.

The last 24 hours have been particularly trying. There was an accident on the highway last night and I didn't get home until after 9pm. The Celtics lost the NBA championship, and since I work for a TV station all I've been hearing about is how much money the sales staff has lost now that there isn't a championship parade. Everyone wants reports that could easily be pulled if they knew what they were looking for (our operating systetm is tricky to use) so I'm behind in my actual work. I was awaken this morning to one of the new cats playing with a live mouse. (Mousie was dumb enough to let my brother catch him in a bowl and place him outside.) And then the brakes are going on my car. The pads are worn down. I am afraid to drive the car home (it's a 45 minute drive). My brother thinks I'm crazy to have it towed but I just worry that something would happen on the highway and that would be that. I'm exhausted and just want to sleep, but I know that I can't since I'll fear another mouse getting in. I just want to go to a safe place.

It definitely sounds as if you're having "one of those days." At least it's Friday, though!
I hope you get a chance to relax later today.

It is so wonderful that you took in those cats in need.
I am so sorry that the stress has piled up for you.

I hope your work week is done. Don't pay attention to others stress....people will always have a reason to complain at work. Right now we are super busy at my job and people are complaining about OT.
Drives me nuts! Some poor people have been out of work for over a year and these people are complaining about making MOREmoney. The sales staff will recoup somehow....its their job to do so.

I also have a crappy car so I also understand about the stress of wondering if it will break down...I couldn't imagine handling the stress of a 45min. commute knowing my car may have issues....I feel for you.

Get some sleep. Don't worry about the mouse. I am sure you won't have an issue two nights in a row.

When I get too busy and feel I am neglecting the kids I take a dedicated 10 minutes to cuddle and play with each one. They know they are getting super special one on one time and are usual pretty content afterward. Than I can take a nice hot bath or shower and decompress by sleeping or reading.

When all else fails remember: This too shall pass!

Over the river and through the woods...
Things WILL get better! Just keep reminding yourself of that. It seems like things happen all at once.

I don't blame you a bit for not wanting to drive your car. You're breaks probably aren't that bad but if you don't feel safe that is an extra stress that you don't need right now and easy enough to fix. I went for a few months driving to and from work (30 minute drive) in a car that I didn't trust and it wasn't fun. Get it fixed..that's one stress off you.

When it comes to work stress...leave it at work. Easier said than done I know, but it CAN be done. I just focus on what I have to do. I will listen to co-workers and sympathize but I've learned to not "absorb" their stress as my own, if that make sense.

You are wonderful for taking in the other 2 kitties! Just keep in mind that the adjustment period is temporary and your time won't seem as split in a little while. Your kitties know you love them!

Hopefully things will calm down for you soon and you will be able to breathe.

sorry things are going so badly for you!

If your brakes just feel like they are going but there is no noise you should be okay to at least make it to a mechanic or home. But I wouldnt drive any further on them than that. Just make sure to leave extra stopping room. If its making a metal on metal grinding noise, then yeah you should probably have it towed.

Had the car checked - it's OK to drive for a few days while they get the parts together. It stops and that's the most important thing. It's been a while since I have had a cat sharing a bedroom with me and Smokey gets up every time he hears someone going up and down the hall. Thankfully I'll be moving soon and the cats will have more room.
