While I do not have a real Maine Coon, Zoe has all the physical characteristics. She is always scarfing her food whole ( TOTW). I was looking at this food to make her chew it more and maybe eat less- she is overweight.

She looks like a Maine Coon to me. How big is she?

Just because she doesn't have papers doesn't necessarily mean she couldn't be a MC or part MC.

She is 16 lbs right now. Too heavy since her mid section is like a round ball when she is standing
She is a very long cat though, her tail is nearly as long as her body. We got her after someone found the kittens outside.

I don't like some of the ingredients in the RC but the concept of larger food to make them chew sounds good. I think she has gained weight on TOTW since she scarfs it down. She eats small amounts at a time but eats many times during the day.

Honestly it is overpriced for what it contains. The way to get her to lose weight is to feed her less or measure out what she eats.

Ask your vet what he thinks she needs to be fed. It is amazing how little you can feed them. I feed Attitude and Nuts(both MC mixes) 1/3 cup of food each a day. They too are grazers but if they eat all their food before their next meal they are SOL until morning.

Your girl is beautiful!!
If you are looking for a food with larger kibble the food I feed my Chester Cheetah is larger, kind of egg shaped. He eats the Nutro Natural Choice Indoor Weight Management. I believe the website has a picture of the kibble if you want to see it. I would also recommend maybe feeding her on a flatter surface like a plate if you are using a bowl now. Also feeding smaller amounts more frequently. That tends to cut back on how much food they can get in their mouth at once and slows down the eating. It usually does the trick for those who like to gulp the food down. A larger kibble like the Natural Choice I feed can help too.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice!

Yes, I need something large to stop her from scarfing it. I have fed her Nutro before, I'll check it out. Never thought to put it on a plate, thanks!

No problem! I hope it works. My Chester can be a fast eater too. He is a big guy like Zoe. He looks sort of like a Norwegian Forest Cat to me but that is just a guess.

I feed mine wet on a paper plate because it stops them from scarfing it. They are ok with dry they don't scarf it. I feed my outside ones in a giant food bowl which makes it harder for them to gulp it down but they aren't scarfers either unless it's canned which once again for them I give it on a paper plate.

I would feed him/her on a plate if scarfing is the issue. Like I said I wouldn't go for RC MC, like I said too much crap for what you pay for it. There are other foods with larger kibble size.

I would also feed smaller amounts more frequently(obviously pre-measured for the day ahead of time.) Mine are fine getting their entire 1/3 cup all at once.
