what to do with a bully cat

Apollo is a bully with all the other cats. They can be sound asleep and he attacks them-this is not play fighting. He has claws out and yowls and hisses. NOW because of him my poor other babies are all hiding. we have a new cat tree and even when sirus goes to play on it apollo comes charging out from where ever he may be even if its upstairs to go after him. YES he is neutered and so is sirus now, which he seems to be letting up on sirus a tad bit but still goes after biggie(also neutered), he tried to attack peanut but she let him have it so he walks around her in a wide circle. Gemma she refuses to leave the kitchen unless apollo comes in there after her then she hides under my girl's beds upstairs. Any suggestions?

This is a difficult situation. If he is really hurting them, it could be that he doesn't like to share his living space with them. Does he usually get on well with them or is this all the time aggression whenever they show up?

You might need to separate him from the others if he's injuring them or not giving them a moment's peace.

Is the bullying a new phenomenon? I understand Peanut and Biggie joined the household fairly recently, right? I recall that you made slow intro's etc.

Apollo is having a hard time adjusting to having new housemates and is asserting his alpha status in a very big way.

I would go get some Feliway room diffusers pretty quickly and some Bach's Rescue Remedy for pets. You can put the Bach's in their water or I just learned you can rub a little of it on their ears and it is absorbed that way.

I would also spend a little more time with Apollo, to let him know he is still important in the house, but not in such a way that it reinforces his domineering behavior. For instance, if you had out treats, give him his first. The pecking order in the house needs to settle down. It's not unlike what happens with an older child when you bring home a new baby.

I found a home for biggie with my daughters great aunt/uncle and cousin. Apollo just doesnt like sharing anything and yes it just started. He has decided everything in the house belongs to him and solely him. I got him to share with sirus occassionally by giving him treats when he lets sirus lay on the cat tree with him. What can i say he is a spoiled brat. It got worse after i brough sirus home from being neutered, does that make sense?
