There were many spotted cats at our last show

I really loved the fawn and the lilac Oci.
There were 23 Bengals.
There were 7 Oci's and 2 Maus.

Go the spotties

I dream of owning a lavender (Ocis are not lilac ) spotted silver Oci.

Jacky - pm me on who the Oci's were and if they were kittens, cats or alters - just for curiousity (and what colors were present).

My pms are full again.
If you email me I will give you the breeders names and colors.

Thanks I will do that.
I was teaching the guys next to me with the Oci's how to show.

What colour were the Maus? I hear there are a few bronze breeders in California.... I have only seen one bronze in person and it was not a very good example of the breed.

They were both Black Silver Spotted Tabbys from the same breeder.
One was a kitten and the other was a alter.

If you are interested, Maus are referred to as just silver, bronze or smoke, not by black or tabby. Since they should all be spotted tabbies, that part is inferred.

Their genetics are interesting:

Actually TICA does refer to them as black silver spotted tabbies.

http://tica.org/public/breeds/em/intro.php

They also do this with the silver bengals.

The ones at the show must be silver or smoke then since they were in the silver/smoke division.
I need to learn more about Maus.
I am confused on their genetics.
Remember when I was trying to decide on what breed of cat to get.
I had Maus on my list.
I still love the Maus and the Oci's.

1 Seal Sepia Spotted Tabby
1 Silver Mink Spotted Tabby
2 Seal Spotted Lynx Point
Altered Bengals
1 Brown Spotted Tabby

There also were 2 Bengals for sale.

In ACFA, the Oci's are listed as "color" Spotted Tabby.

Wow, I came back to post here and was locked out for hours. Couldn't get on at work or at home.

I was going to reply that I am sorry about not looking into TICA titles, I am too CFA-centric in my thinking.

It does seems redundant to me to list them as Black Silver Spotted Tabbies when that is what they are... Silver suffices in a description. But I have no say in the titling of cats

I was locked out also.
Wrinkles my Seal Tortie Point and White Sphynx is a Bi-color in CFA.
In TICA she is in the Pointed Tortie and White Division which is what she is.
Are the standards for the Maus different in CFA and TICA?
They are for the sphynx.
The Mau featured on the breed listing for TICA has Granded in CFA. From that I would infer that both associations are looking for the most of the same things. I read the standard and it looks the same.

We just have a few Maus at the shows here.
I will have to see what ones are at the CFA shows.

I very much enjoy looking at spotted kitties here on TCS! I've never seen one in person --although Daisy has a spotty belly and I think it's so cute!

You should go to a cat show.
They are awesome in person.

Have to agree with you on that

There are also other breeds that come in spotted tabby pattern, in addition to those mentioned here.

My coworker is trying to save a cat from across her street and it is a brown spotted tabby. First randomly occuring one I have seen since getting into spotted cats.

Pretty girl, but her owner has given away her first unwanted litter at 4 weeks old and says he can't afford to spay her. My coworker brought him the flyer that advertises 25$ spays if you can show financial need. We're hoping he does something soon since the SPCA here is overcrowded and can't take her in.

If I didn't have a female at home, I would "steal" the one blue cream spotted tabby barn cat at my friend's house. She has spots that look like an Ocicat! I named her "AussieGirl".

Ever so rarely, there is a kitten born of a spotted breed that is him/herself, unspotted. Unless there is already a class/AOV for them, these cats cannot be registered in organizations that register the breed by color/pattern. However, an unspotted silver can be registered in an organization that only recognizes the breed by color, the cat just possesses a DQ fault.
