I found a good deal on a cosleeper on Craig's List, but I've never bought anything from there. I will pay cash and I asked the seller to meet me in a public place...any other tips? I'm trying to find someone to go with me.

Most definitely take someone with you. You never know who is out there. It's also nice to have someone with you while trying to find the place. When you meet the person if they seem fishy or start making you uncomfortable you have the right to stop the transaction and leave.

So far I have not had any issues but I live in a small rural area so I don't live in a big city. But it's always better to be on the safe side!

I never had any problems and I bought and sold plenty of stuff at CL...
I am also single, so don't have the luxury of having someone available to go with me...
The key is, IMO, to schedule the meetings at public, well lit places, in the middle of the day, preferabbly on a weekend when the places are busier - the best place for me is my Starbucks parking lot. I park right in front of the place, where there are always people sitting out, and do the transactions outside of the car. I also let the person leave first, so I know I am not followed; I usually stick around for coffee...

There are crazy people out there, but there are many more good people than bad... Just act like you would when talking/dealing with complete strangers...

I've bought and sold many things off CL. A lot of the time if we want to get something sooner, hubby will send me to meet up with someone to get the item, but always in a public place and I always have my cell ready as well. I also don't venture from near my car. So far all of our transactions have been successful. We do sometimes get a lot of spam emails in response for our listings which can get annoying though

Honestly, I love Craig's List! I found the love of my life, Maia, there, as well as my TV, my serger, my 2 past jobs. My concern would be a co-sleeper? I would do a CSI inspection

I have a musical instrument I have been thinking of selling on Craigs List. But if I do that the person would have to come to my home to try out the instrument. What is the general opinion about that.

It's pretty cheap. I figured it'd be washable and I could always buy a new mattress if I needed to.

Agree with the above...

I advertise on CL and I meet for the first time in a public place

I've sold stuff and bought stuff on CL. When my DH is working, my friend down the road either comes down, or her son. If I go somewhere, I leave the address and always take someone with me.

Recently, we had an attempted robbery of a CL user. They met the buyer in a parking lot and he was robbed. So I don't know if that is the best idea either.

But I think it has to do with what you are selling. I sold a couple of antiques. I don't think they attract the bad guys like a boom box would.

We've sold more on Craigs list that we've bought but I've never had any problems. I bought an antique dresser and had to go to the home to view it. But it was an ok part of town so I wasn't worried. We've soild power tools and also a dresser so the buyer (s) came to our house to purchase.

Just see if you can bargain with the price once you see the item you want to buy!

Good luck.
