Hi everyone, has anyone had experience with this? I got a cat at the shelter. Seems pretty health (eats, runs around, lots of energy) She was dewormed. Since she has been home I have been feeding her Iams Hard and half a can of soft food per day. She poops at least 4 times a day. Its never real hard but not diareah. I would say a little harder than pudding. Do you think she has some kind of disease. Any suggestions on cat food thats good for cats with this problem. I feed her a cup and a half of hard food a day along with a half a can of soft. Maybe I feed her to much. Oh and she does get a tablespoon of hard treats a day and she is around 7 pounds. Thanks Mindy

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Is she a kitten? That seems like a lot of food for a full grown 7 pound cat. My Lily is about 9 pounds and in excellent shape. She's not a fan of canned food, so she eats maybe a tablespoon or two of Avoderm canned and 1/2 - 3/4 cup a day max of dry (Kirklands mixed with Acana Grasslands). If yours is a kitten she of course needs more calories/food.
My cats usually go #2 twice a day and they are fed twice a day.

Higher quality food results in less output since the body is able to use more of the nutrients and such in the food. Lower quality food results in more output since the body can't easily use or absorb much. My cats generally poop once a day and they're on a combination of Taste of the Wild (dry, but only 1/8 C per day) and Wellness grain-free and Taste of the Wild canned. I also have a CRF on prescription food.
The consistency of your kitty's poop is a bit of a concern to me. Has she had a fecal test to rule out parasites and worms?

How long have you had the cat, how old is she about, and what was she eating at the shelter? Usually it's recommended you start out with whatever the kitty was eating at the shelter, and then gradually transition to a different food. Some cats have iron tummies and can eat nails and switch homes every day - other cats need a little more help, especially when facing a change in environment.
Also, most vets will be happy to work out portion sizes with you. That does kind of sound like a lot of food, but metabolisms can be different.
My little girl does well on 1/2 cup of CD dry per day, and maybe a big teaspoon of wet. She's about 7 pounds and about 7-8 years old (got her ass an adult). My big boy gets about 1/2 cup of dry as well - I think he has a slower metabolism - he's about 13 pounds.
My two tend to go about once per day.

I feed my Chester Nutro Natural Choice. He usually does his number two once a day. The ingredients in Nutro are very digestible, which means he utilizes them more and has less waste in the litterbox. I would stay away from ingredients like chicken-by-products, ground yellow corn, sorghum. You may find your kitty will use the litterbox more with those type of ingredients. Chester is on the weight management now so he only eat about 1/4 cup twice a day, then he gets his wet as a snack. His stool is firm and he has been on Nutro since he was a kitten. He does also get Greenies as a treat throughout the day. He practically chases me down for them.
If you want to try any new food just be sure you mix from old to new for about a week so not to cause stomach upset.
Good luck!

How old is she? How many times was she dewormed ? many times it takes two or three wormings to be fully successful...
1.5 cups is enough for a ave 20 lb cat or a kitten that is under six months and over 10 lbs
Please take your kitty to the vet..... as no one on here is a vet and can actually see and touch your cat....
Was she on Iams at the shelter?
