Summer is upon is and time for vacations

Are you planning a vacation this year? Where are you going?

I have a vacation in September but it is actually going to be a "stay-cation" as I probably will stay at home. No money to actually go anywhere. LOL Will probably sleep in a bit and then play on the computer or go out to the apartment's pool. I have 3 days off the first week of August but I am going to be helping out at my church's Vacation Bible School.

No vacation for me. We were planning on going somewhere next month for our 1 year anniversary since we didn't get a honeymoon but can't afford it now.

We're going on a 5 night Bahamian cruise with extended family next week. I'm not a big fan of the Bahamas, but I'm really looking forward to getting away.

Then, two weeks later, we are going to Walt Disney World with just my immediate family and my son's girlfriend. We are Disney freaks and go often and I"m excited for that trip.

DH was talking about going to Williamsburg for a long weekend in August, but we'll see how the budget looks. Vacations are important to us and we have a savings account just for them. DH in particular works very long hours and he needs frequent breaks to regain his sanity.

So...would you like to adopt me?

No real vacations planned here although we are planning some weekend camping trips.

We went to Denver 2 weeks ago and I just got back from Chicago on Monday. We're going back to Chicago in July for another long weekend. We'll probably take a vacation to a tropical place in November when the weather starts to get cold.

DH is going to Vegas in August for a union convention. I usually remain at home, since I don't fly. But that's OK, too, because I will take 2-3 days vacation and get things done around the house while he's gone.

We're trying to plan a visit to my GF in CT, probably in late July for a weekend. My brother and SIL want to visit the casinos there and DH will go with them. My GF and I will spend that day shopping and perusing the Book Barn, a large 3-story barn with outbuildings that house thousands and thousands of books. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Chef's Warehouse, etc. Dinner at the Outback for French onion soup. Fun!

And then another weekend visit to her during the autumn season, when we go up to pick Mutsu apples to make dumplings, pies, and sauce for the freezer. We usually come home with 100 pounds of apples.

With another couple, we are planning a trip to West Virginia to visit the Fiesta outlet, sometime late August or early September. My everyday dishes are Fiesta....all the different colors and we've been wanting to go there now for a couple of years.

And then, hopefully over the Thanksgiving weekend, our whole family will visit Niagara Falls. It will be DH and me, brother and SIL, sister and BIL, along with my niece and nephew and their spouses, too. We're working now on getting reservations for us all at the same B & B at Niagara-on-the-Lake, so we can stay together. That will be fun!

And that will be it for this year.

No major plans here, will probably spend lots of time down the Jersey shore since Russ has a home there. There are lots of things to do there and it's nice to just get away for awhile. Our friends will be invited to come anytime they can too.

My daughter and I took a trip together last month, I've taken 3 trips the last 8 months, and my husband travels 3-4 months out of the year, so we're kind of wanting to stay away from airports right now.

We are going to spend some weekends up-island this summer, and explore some of the smaller islands (car/ferries). Our next big family vacation will probably be NYC or Disney World, since my daughter and husband have never been to either, but that's a few months away if not a year.

The heat in the Bahamas doesn't get to me too much because of the breeze. It will be way worse when we go to Florida next month. We go every summer and I lose weight every time because of the sweating and lack of appetite. I cannot wait until my son is out of school because then it is winter trips only for me!

We are driving to Grand Junction, Colorado in August for hubby's great-grandma's 100th birthday. Two weeks off work. We're planning on driving straight there in a day in a half, spending time meeting his CO family (there are many he's never met on the west coast), party for great-grandma, then taking a week to drive home and visit things in the west and mid-west.

Very excited!!
Even more excited we'll have our brand new car to make the trip in, that will be SO luxurious!

Well, hopefully we'll be able to take a few trips out this year. A family trip back to NC for my MIL's 50th bday party (early Sept) then myself going to Jersey for a few days (since DH will be on leave to stay with the kids). We're gonna try and fit in a weekend by ourselves at some point in time while he's home, but we'll see how that goes.
