We've had some crazy weather in the Cincinnati area over the past few days. On Sat., there was some of the heaviest rain I can remember, flash flooding and road closures.

Last night, there were severe thunderstorms that brought down our phone lines and a huge limb off the tree in our front yard. Won't have phone service or internet at home until tomorrow afternoon at the latest. Apparently, the warning sirens were going off last night and I slept through it all.

We're lucky, though. A lot of folks got hit pretty hard. No damage at our place, except to the tree.

I think we are having early May weather now-I think May and June were mixed up! Its raining once again (third time today). A couple of days will (*gasp*) be sunny then back to chance of rain for the next 5 days.

It hit me about an hour before it hit Eileen. The winds were the scary part.

We have had it strange here as well, first about 4 weeks without rain, (april/ may was very dry nothing growing)then huge down poor and thunder and lightning, now its very windy and cold for this time of year. Down towards the south of france in the Var they have had 10 killed and thousands without electricty due to flooding and thunder storms.

We've been breaking records with the heat here. Ughhh. Yesterday it was 99ºF, with a "real feel" index of 121ºF! And this is NOT dry heat
It was instant wet muggy blanket in your face outside. I HATE this weather in Charleston, and its not even officially summer.

We had a short thunderstorm yesterday, they were predicted for the rest of the week, but today was sunny and muggy and hot again, no rain.

We had a tree limb down Saturday and it wasn't even windy. It took out our chimney and was hanging over our roof. The cats were the first to hear it come down- I was napping- but suddenly there was a stray cat scramble and all the cats vacated the living room and took off down the tunnels. The tree came down right over where the cat condos are in the living room. It was about 70 feet long and 16 feet wide- part of a beautiful, centuries old pine tree. The roofer when he climbed up and looked at it said it couldn't have come down gentler if God had laid it down with His hands! Were it not for the chimney, it would have taken out half of the side of the cat enclosure plus our living room roof and well house!

They pulled it off today and now there is a mess to clean up, Mike is still really ill and not getting better and there is no way I can get all this debris and wood out of here. I am going to try to find someone local who will clean it up in exchange for all the firewood. At least, the insurance will pay for it- and it is no longer on the roof!

It is kind of weird though-people were actually stopping on the highway, coming up to our door and knocking on it to tell us we had a tree on our house! Like we didn't know that already?
