E Collar and Tummy Problems

Marshmallow got out last night... he also came back this morning. Since his return, he has had diarhea. Also, yesterday I got an E Collar for him, because he has a HUGE cut on his ear that he won't stop scratching the scab off of. I have the collar on him now... he isn't very happy. Having said that, I have a few questions.

1. Should I take the collar off until after the tummy problems have been resolved? I'm afraid that he won't be able to make it into the litter box... he's having a hard time getting around.

2. Is it normal that he is trying, with all his might, to get out of this thing? He's walking backwards, trying to shove the collar off.

3. I don't think I have the collar on wrong, but it seems as though he can't get his head far enough into his dish to eat... drink... etc. Any suggestions?

If he cannot eat or drink the collor is too big. Yes cats hate them with a passion. You could try putting tape on the kitties ear to keep it from being scratched again. It might work for short periods of time. Use the medical tape directly on the ear and scab. I would also get him to the vet. He may have ingested any number of things like anti freeze. Good luck!
