I made Orange Chicken today and it calls for dry white wine. I have a favourite white wine that I use for cooking....Folonari Pino Grigio.

I was peeling the metal cover off of the top part of the bottle in order to expose the cork. It was hard and I had to use some pliers in order to help peel it off.

Well, imagine my surprise to find that the reason it was hard to remove was because it was a metal screw on cap!!! I haven't bought this wine in a few years, but when I used to buy it regularly it had a cork not a screw cap!!

So here I was with a bottle of wine with nothing to close the top! Thank goodness I save corks and managed to find one that fit into the bottle!

I would see the lack of corks to be a great excuse to drink the rest--waste not, want not!

I did pour myself a glass at noon hour! Then I corked the rest. I only needed 1/2 cup for the recipe.

Folonari, pinot grigio is one of our by-the-glass wines we serve at the Italian restaurant I work at. (Random, pointless fact. lol!)

Excellent choice!!!

My preference of red wines is either South Australia or South Africa. But when I do have a white I gravitate to Italy or Western Canada. We have some wonderful award winning Chardonnay wines in Canada.

I really love wine, but most of my knowledge is of Italian wine, because that's what I needed to learn for work. Have you ever had a Sangiovese? It's one of my favorites. (OH, how I MISS wine!! Dylan needs to get here!)

Kind of funny how you struggled and struggled to get the 'outer wrapping' off and it turned out to be the cap! I know I've ended up destroying things like that in the past, I can't think of specifics right now though. D'oh!
But yes, good you have some extra corks.

I love to cook with wine, but I'm terrible with popping corks. I have the corkscrew, just not the technology. I have ended up with big pieces of cork floating around down in the bottle.
