Good Morning

Since I just got a Veiled Chameleon yesterday, this question is about lizards.

Do you have any lizards as pets? If yes, what do you have? If not, have you ever had one or considered getting one?

My DS had a leopard gecko for about 8 years. Legolas the gecko died this past winter. I enjoyed watching him because he was so simple, calm, and deliberate.

Yes, 4 golden geckos and 2 leos. A couple of them I've had for several years. The oldest male golden is coming up on 10 years with me... he was wc so I have no idea how old he really is, I'd guess 12 or 13 years old based on growth rate. Information online says they're only a 10 year gecko.

My oldest leo was originally owned by a family friend (RIP), I remember him showing off his new gecko purchase around '97 so that would make that leo close to 13?
I should have another 10 years out of him as a leo's life span is comparable to that of a cat.

The rest, including my 9 juvenile box turtles, all hatched in '06.

Was the chameleon an impulse buy or had you been preparing for one for a while? CB or WC?

I've been planing on getting a chameleon, a bearded dragon or a king snake for a while. I decided to get the chameleon first. It's CB

Some big differences in care and personality among those.
I hope you know that most people get hooked on whatever species they start with - so you may end up with more chameleons and never get a beardie or king snake now.

I hope your chameleon adjusts well and thrives.

I don't have any, but I find lizards fascinating. I especially like geckos. When we go down to Mexico, sometimes we see them scurrying up the walls in the condo we rent. They're fast!!

I could totally see getting hooked on having little lizards.

I have never had a lizard or ever thought of having one. I have a friend who has one tho and she loves her and takes very good care of her.

Never had or thought about getting one. I find watching the lizards outside fun though
So do the cats!

Yeah I'm still hoping though. And if I end up with more chameleons that ok too. I have some experience with all 3 (my cousin has over 35 reptiles and I helped her set up a lot of her tanks and stuff) and I like them all.

Not a lizard but a reptile. We currently have a corn snake, his name (as per my children) is "the wizard"... sigh, lol. He's our 3rd snake, we've also had iguana's (4 between the 2 of us) and a jacksons chamelion.

Never had them but I love lizards! I couldn't believe in Cuba they just walk around. I wish we had them here but it's too cold!

we have a lizard that lives in our drain spout does that count?
He usually scares the crap out of me by darting across the driveway in front of me!

I have a bearded dragon. She's pretty cool, I've been slowly nursing her back to life. She wasn't well taken care of before I got her. I think I've had her two months now.

You can tell she's thin. I finally got her eating veggies and dandelion flowers along with crickets.

^What did they have her on before? Commercial and insects only?

You never know. You might consider keeping an eye on local rescues or petfinder. Beardies and king snakes could come up sometimes.

I don't think I'll be getting any more reptiles myself, or if I do it won't be many more - maybe just more turtles since they're a part time outdoor pet. I couldn't imagine having 35 tanks to clean! My back makes it where some days I can't even manage to bend over to pick up the cat food dishes.

I have 4 Russian Tortoises, but no lizards currently. Someday I do want one. I can't decide what kind. I love Leos, they're so cute. And Beardies. But I don't want to do live insects. So then I thought maybe a Crestie or a Mali Uromastyx. Evidently the Uros have similar care requirements as an RT, so I could deal with that.
