Has anyone else watched this series? A friend of mine told me about it and I started watching the first season (there have been four) the other day. It's an alright series that deals with a young Henry VIII, and is highly fictionalized.

I have no idea what it would be like to part of a king's court, but if it was anything like in the show I would lop my own head off.

I bought the first three seasons and will buy the last season once released on DVD. This is one of my favorite periods of history. The last time I was in England I went to Hever Castle Ann Boylens (or was it Mary the first favroite) home and touched the bed that Henry the 8th slpet in (wasn't supposed to do that!) I find the Tudor period fascinating.

I watched the first two seasons (from Netflix), then quit Netflix for awhile (i'm going back).

I really liked it, because I also like the Tudor period - but I found it really overly salacious. I'm far from being a prude, but I really thought there were scenes that didn't need to be in there. I mean, do we really need to see Henry pleasuring himself? Waaaaaay over the top, bordering on soft-porn.....and, once again, I'm not prudish at all. I felt like there was so much gratuitous sex I ended up shouting at the screen, "okaaaaaay.....I get it! Henry VIII liked sex!" Really....shouted at the screen.

Other than that, I liked it, and I'm going to get seasons 3 and 4 when i re-join Netflix.

I love the Tudor period, but this series was so inaccurate and fictionalised that I gave up after two episodes, though I did dip in a few times hoping it might get better. It scared me that some people might think it was actual history!

And yes, Hever Castle was Anne's home.

I looove the show! I've watched every episode.
There are some things which bother me because they are innaccurate/too fictional, but I can handle it...
It's actually the only show I watch nowadays besides True Blood.

There's so much about that period that's fictionalised when it comes to movies and books. But usually, if it's well done, I don't mind. If production values are good, I can usually get into it.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Tudors! Its my favorite show, next to True Blood.

I actually just started getting into The Tudors, I watch Nurse Jackie, and I saw a preview for The Tudors. It looked interesting, so I went On Demand and watched every single episode, it was all I watched for a few days until I got up to date. It really sucks though that after a few more episodes the series is going to be over

I love this series although parts are fairly inaccurate!
The Tudor perod is one of my favourite historical periods, mainly because Elizabeth 1st fascinates me.
Yep, it's one of my tv 'guilty pleasures'.....

To be fair, people associated with the show have said that the series is for entertainment, and isn't meant to be historically accurate documentary. I don't have a problem with that, that's why there are history books. The "Rome" series on HBO wasn't completely historically accurate either.

There's something about the guy portraying Henry VIII that bugs me. Some of his facial expressions and mannerisms remind me of Commodus from the movie "Gladiator".

Susan, thank you for the link about Elizabeth. I'm going to watch over my off days.

Honestly Bryan you'll love them!. I watched them 3 times in the last 12 months because i always think you miss bits the first time round?.

It's the dresses that i love as well. They must have been so heavy and hot in the summer, but their so elegant!. I think that's why i had my birthday party in a Castle a year ago because i just wanted the feeling to be transported back in time for a bit

Yeah, I was going to say something about him. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - a bit over the top for me.

But I love the "look" of the series. And the women and the supporting cast are fantastic!
