Hmm ... Lets see here .. I came around last summer, when I was randomly thrust into kitty momma hood. Bottle raised 4 baby kittens from birth. That brought my kitty count up from 2 rescues to 6. Bringing the house total tooooo ... 11. Right now we have 12, as we have another bottle raised baby looking for a home.

One of the almost year old boys has taken quite a fancy to the 10 week old girl. They play, and even thru her heavy bitings, his claws never come out. He's gentler with her than he's ever been in his life. Funny. Baby kitties bring out the best in everyone.

So, from my house to yours. Hello from Jes and Kate (the humans) and, Dakota (old 'retired' momma barn kitty), Cupcake (her daughter), Butterfinger (Dakota's son who vanished one day, only to return years later as a grumpy barn cat, and is now a happy house cat), Stella (fat calico), Tali (gray kitty rescued as a half dead baby in a barn), Mittens, Caleb, Beast, Sebastian (the bottle raised 5), and Baby Ariel!

You sound very much like me hun!
I foster (as well as being the adoption/foster care facilitator) for Cat Rescue Maritimes as well as the local Animal Rescue League. We have 8 kitties of our own and currently have 2 adult fosters and a 5 week old foster kitten.
I look forward to getting to know you and your babies better!

I wiiish I stopped at cats. I'm pretty much a small animal rescue. Roughly the end of April some one (some one I THOUGHT was my friend) asked me to take all of her 27 (OMFG) rats. I said I simply didn't have the room, no way. Hooked her up with a local pet store to board them at. A week later, we stopped hearing from her. They had thrown boys in with boys, and one took a good beating. Everyone was sneezing and breathing horrid. (I had been taking care of them, but couldn't make it there for 3 days, pet store simply fed and watered). I ended up calling my vet, taking 3 rats in, getting medicine for all 27. Next day ... one was dead. Day after, 2 were severely dehydrated. Called vet as they were closing, they left a bag of fluids on the door for me for subqs ... on the way to tractor supply to get the syringes and needles ... one of them died in my hands....

Need less to say, I don't associate with these people any more. I have adopted out MOST of the adoptable rats. I'm to afraid to let a few of them go, such as the one that needs constant monitoring, or she looses weight. She'll bounce back, but I pretty much give her special food daily to keep her up to par. The young girl that came in with a broken (and never cared for, but already healed, and very much off on angle) leg. The boy that had the crap kicked out of him, and one that is constantly battling a uri. They.stay.here. At least I know I'll take them to the vet no matter what.

I've taken in 2 rats from the backroom of a local pet store. Both deemed 'aggressive' and 'unsociable'... funny ... neither of them have ever bit me. One had been nick named 'Possessed' because her attitude was so bad. She took a couple days to warm up to me. The other one ... I ended up holding her before I left the store. And she sat on my shoulder 2 days later.

Not to mention ... the gerbil I adopted because he too ... was labeled aggressive. The ferrets I added to my own when my friend moved and couldn't take them. And the pit bull that came home when I almost hit her in the road. (Don't worry ... I called every where ... and even had her checked for a micro chip. No collar, no chip, no 'missing pitty'..mine.)

Yup ... pretty much ... if some one I know or some one that KNOWS of me ... doesn't want something ... it ends up here until it finds a new home. LOL.
