I dont know about you all, but every cat I have ever had have a fascination with boxes!! They play in out on under!
Well hubby just bought a pair of work boots and this box is so cool! They do all kinds of crazy stuff with this box!
I had a fat cat named Nosey, (he passed away of old age, 19) anyway he was big and fat and he loved really small boxes, he would turn and turn until he got in it!!
Anyway, do any of you have any cute box stories? Love to hear them!

Yep boxes are a big deal for cats. I look forward to hearing more box stories in this thread, and if you are interested there is a thread where people have been posting picutres of their cats and their Box Forts:

Currently Mazy cat has discovered she can male a running pounce in one of those flat boxes that cat food cans come in, and slide across the rug. It's Great Fun, she says!

My kitties always have several boxes to choose from. The babbies are 7 weeks old and are teething and thank God for boxes cause they are doing their teething on the boxes and not my furniture!!!!

I don't know how exciting our box story is. Whenever we buy a large object, like a microwave oven, all our cats take turns diving in and hide. They like it best on its side with the flaps that cover their presence.

Our last big box got stood on its end so the cats could jump to the top (about 3' high). Well, we decided to keep it for them. Now, its a landing spot for them. What is funny is when they run at it and jump, they hit the top and crash into the wall. They always have that look like "I meant to do that."

There are always a couple of boxes in the living room for our cats. It looks terrible but makes them happy.

When I saw the title of this, I knew....

I don't even know the exact count of empty boxes we have sitting around right now...well, not completely empty because at least one of them contains a Siamese cat.

There's a couple guys in the house so we usually keep ramen noodles in stock - it's cheaper to buy them by the boxes at wal-mart, and as I've discovered - the cats LOVE the boxes.
They're smallish, only my two girl kittens could actually comfortably fit in them but that doesn't stop Sherman, Tomas, and Blaan from cramming themselves into them. I toss the boxes when they finally rip out every side and it's just a flat piece of cardboard... though I think I've caught them doing something that suspiciously looks like kitty break dancing on that.
Tanna likes chewing them since they're a softer cardboard.

I also have a more standard sized box and a big Lennox AC box - it was much larger but they were beating it up too much so I cut it in half and stuffed one half inside the other. It now stands up and supports the cats weight (all of them at once, if they wished) - Siri is currently sleeping on top of it.

Tomas is my box fanatic, though. No box is too small for him to try to crawl into.

Hmmm I think the box fascination most cats have is more a fascination with 'small space must check for small moving furry things I can eats'. and occassionally a 'you bugs me, I hides,' fascination.

My bobcats LOVE boxes. I bring big boxes home from the store when I get their raw meat. They play in them and end up ripping them up into tiny pieces.

My two love boxes! We have them everywhere, there are currently 3 in the living room, 3 in the kitchen (these are bottled beer boxes that I have on different shelves of a old butchers block) and two upstairs. One of the ones upstairs has been there since we moved in 4 years ago, it's about 2.5ft tall and was Ripley's 'safe place' while she was adjusting to her new home. I haven't the heart to take it away from her, she still uses it - you can be sitting downstairs and hear her running towards it at top speed then a huge 'crump' as she lands in it.
The most recent funny box related incident involves one of the boxes in the living room. It has been there since Xmas when I bought my husband a pair of boots (it has tissue paper in it so it is one of the most sought after & fought over boxes in the house), Ripley jumped in it recently and the lid fell down leaving an inch gap which she could see out of. She must have thought 'this is too good an opportunity to miss' so sat there for ages peering out until Newt came strolling past at which point Ripley leaped up like a jack in the box. Newt was so surprised she must have jumped about two feet in the air.

What great box stories!! You are definately a dedicated human to keep the boxes that long! OUr boxes come and go. But the new one, the boot box is tooo fun to let go of!!! It does so many things and so many different ways they all play with it. Also hubby gave them the old laces from his old boots, now the little babbies think they can play with his NEW shoe laces as well! It is funny listening to hubby try to get ready for work when he is at the shoe part, I can hear him chasing them off but they are unrelenting!! I giggle.
A friend of mine gave us a box of nice china dishes. It is sitting on a chair in the kitchen, the little ones love the noise the dishes make when they jump in and out! They are too gentle for the dishes to break.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen empty refrigerator boxes at the road, and I have the car and not the truck!!

My grandson made their kittens a "Hotel for Cats" out of 3 large boxes. The kittens love it. Thank goodness for duct tape!
