Kiwi - the pregnant stray I found - has had increadably dirty ears. It looked like ear mites (my old kittens had them) so i have been using corn oil. It's day 4 and the nastiness keeps coming back full strength. I keep cleaning them and it keeps coming back. I'm going out of town tomorrow morning so I wont be able to get her to the vet until Tuesday. (Someone is coming to take care of her and the kittens) Any ideas that may help her until then? She doesn't scratch, shake her head or cry when you touch her ears. Actually, she lays rather still while i clean them out. The only time ive ever seen her shake or scratch is after ive put in the oil.

You may want to see the vet. It could be a fungus issue. One vet told me my cat had dog mites in his ears, and another vet told me he had no mites whatsoever, it was a fungus and gave me animax ointment (I believe) and it cleared it up in three days for both of my cats. But ask your vet first!

Ask the vet about using Revolution if there is mites. I don't know how old the kittens are, but a couple months of dosing is usually easiest for most people and you don't have to worry about her shaking anything out of her ears and all over you.

You need to check the kittens ears - are they clean?

I'm treating Dusty for bacterial/fungus infection - no mites. She was first on Animax, but that didn't clear it up, so we are now using Tresaderm. She has a recheck on Monday.
