Litter due now

My pretty little smoke Mau is due any day now. Day 65 is this Friday, and she is pretty big, but not as huge as Skylark gets. I have heard from her breeder, who says her Mom gave birth twice on day 67, so if DD follows suit, we'll be having kittens on Sunday morning.

I haven't noticed any definite nesting activity, and she is not happy with being confined to the kitten nursery at all. I just don't want her to sneak off and have kittens under the couch!

DD is smoke, and Sol (the stud) is silver but carries the smoke gene. I am hoping to get more silvers than smokes, but will be happy with whatever she delivers.

My current litter is currently housed in the kitchen, and they romp like tiny elephants. Skylark is back in heat and I am ensuring there are two doors between her and Tsekani. I got a really cute picture this morning of a kitten sleeping in a hat I had left on the kitchen table. I don't even know how she got up that high in the first place, they are only 8 weeks old.

I'll post the picture later, and will post some baby smoke pictures as well. Here's hoping that the delivery goes smoothly for DD.

I learned the hard way that the way one queen looks with 4-5 is not the same way another queen looks with the same. I almost wonder if it is because smoke is more 'slimming' You may be able to feel the babies and get a rough count as they start to align themselves before delivery.

I'm so excited for you

Yeah, they have been a lot more active, earlier, than Sky's kittens. I noticed kitten bumpings weeks ago. With Sky, I had to hold my hand on her side for quite awhile before I felt any squirms. DD was probably in better physical shape before becoming pregnant, though. She was in show condition right up to her mating day.

Precious photos She looks quite content on her hat. My 8 weekers can climb very high too - drives their mum nuts, she's still dragging them around though they weigh 2lbs

Best of luck with DD, hoping you get not only the colour you want but also in the correct sexes. Perhaps you should be wishing for smokes, then you'll get silvers it seems to work that way.

So that's where I've been making my mistake!

Four in the afternoon, DD decides to have her first. It is silver, and looks like it has great contrast. Been a few hours and I am in with her, the vet is informed and we are just waiting. Everything is good so far.

Everything went great. I am really tired, and will post colours and sexes later on.

We ended up with three kittens; a silver boy (?), smoke girl (?), and a smoke boy (?). At least I am pretty sure those are the sexes. I was right on all of Sky's litter so I am pretty positive I have it right this time but will keep checking.. (=

Oh my god. . . you're going to have a lot of fun picking which kittens to keep. They look breathtaking, the black on those smokes is JET and you can already see the white undercoat. Lovely!

Mostly smokes

congrats they are cute, hope there's something special in there for you. I really love the smokes, and that's coming from a silver lover

I love the smokes as well; I can't wait to see more pictures as they grow older. Congrats!
