I'm new, and so is my baby Murphy. She is a severe asthmatic and is on inhaled meds, but due to her chronic asthma and its severity, she has developed a very suppressed immune response to her own bacteria, and the environment around her. Although cortosteroids (inhaled meds) is my primary focus for her asthmatic health, it has only been 3 years since this immunity resistence has developed. She is on her second bout with MRSA, most definitely 50% worse than the first time, and I would like to share thoughts on anyone that has ever dealt with feline bacterial strains such as these. They are self-contained in her nasal cavity, however, each time she gets an infection, or one comes out of its dormant stage, it is always worse than the last. Please share your thoughts if you have any experience whatsoever on this topic. Thanks much.

Welcome to the site! I also have a cat who takes inhaled meds for feline asthma.

I don't have any experience with MRSA, but if you do a search of the forums, you'll find some other threads discussing the topic. There are definitely members here who have dealt with that type of infection.

In the meantime, best wishes for your girl's recovery!

I only have a little bit of experience with MRSA and it's with my dog.

My dog Sofie was sneezing for several months [she was living with my parents at the time]. We flushed her nose, the sneezing was still bad. We sent a culture out and it came back as MRSA. She had to be on Amikacin injections sub-q every day and get fluids sub-q every day as well. After 14 days of treatment we setn out a culture and it was clean.

However the sneezing started up again. We flushed the nasal cavity and ended up flushing out a chunk of tumor. Sofie has Sinonasal Carcinoma. Most likely due to the cancer she got the MRSA due to her immune system being low.

You really might want to be sure it isn't just MRSA, that your cat doesn't have some kind of nasal tumor. Maybe the infections become worse when she gets them because her body has such a hard time fighting off the staph? That's a good vet question to ask.
