Help with Paint Sho Pro 8

I installed some brushes and then I tried starting up Paint Shop Pro and then it said there was an error and it had to close. I then deleted the brushes and it kept happening. Will I have to uninstall PSP8? Or is there something else I can do?

That's partially why I got rid of PSP 8; it seemed that every time I turned around, the program would freeze on me or decide that it had to close. It got frustrating.

Anyway, what version of 8 are you running? Have you downloaded and installed the patches for the program?

Also, how do you have your brushes, tubes, fonts, etc. stored on your computer? Don't store them inside your PSP program....once you get too much stuff stored inside your PSP on your hard drive, it will start to act funky. The program starts to bloat and it won't work properly.

I have a folder called "PSP Stuff" on my hard drive. Inside that folder are my other folders: Brushes, Fills and Backgrounds, Floaties, Frames, Glitters, Gradients, Masks, Plug-ins, etc. Then in File>Preferences>File Locations, I told PSP where to look for the brushes (C:\\Users\\Pam\\PSP Stuff\\Brushes...that's the path I'm using on my hard drive). I'm using PSP 7 and PSP X, but it works the same way in 8, too, I'd think. I have both my programs looking for the stuff in the exact same folders and everything for both programs is stored in those folders. If a cake tube has been made for PSP X and I store it in my PSP Tubes/Cakes folder, it won't show up in 7. It works the same way for my brushes and other items, too.

I have tons of brushes, gradients, glitters, tubes, fonts, etc. on my hard drive. This way, it's easier for PSP to find everything and the program itself is still streamlined and won't get bloated.

I put them in the PSP folder
What do you mean by what version am I using? No, I haven't used any patches or anything like that. What can I do to get Paint Shop Pro 8 to start properly? I'll do what you've done, once I've found out how to stop it from crashing

To find out what version you're using, open your PSP. Go to Help, then go to About Paint Shop Pro. That should tell you your version. In 7, I'm using 7.04. In X, I'm using 10.03.

If you've not installed any patches to your PSP 8 and you're still using PSP 8.0, go to:

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satelli...=1153321344576

Download this patch to your PSP folder on your C drive. Once it's downloaded, double-click on it to start the patch installation. That will install all updates to PSP 8 to your program. I think some of those updates will help with your program wanting to close, although from what you're saying, you didn't have that problem until you installed the brushes??

If you want, we can take this to PMs....that way we can try to figure something out. Or even emails. Like I said, I don't have 8, but overall, as I recall, it was a lot like 7. A few minor changes.

If somebody else comes up with an idea, that would be great, too.

Thanks so much, Winchester! The patch worked fine. Everything is back to normal now, and I have a higher version of Paint Shop Pro ;]

Glad it worked!

Like I said, I have a ton of PSP stuff, so if you're interested in sharing things, let me know.....I'm always up for new PSP stuff!

Check your PMs.
