Muffin has been taking Denamarin for elevated Alt, liver enzyme. He has been on it about 4 months. Twenty some days ago, his bloodwork was done and the liver enzyme had gone down 50 pts. This week he has vomited up his food after his morning meal. Has anyone else had this experience with a cat on this medicine. My husband said don't give it to him two or three days and see how he does. I welcome any advice.

I don't think it's the denamarin. If he is regurgitating the food immediately after eating it, it sounds like a scarf and barf to me.

Try giving him smaller meals. Separate his morning meal into two portions a half hour apart.

I hope Muffin gets to be his old self soon. I have someone who is doing the same thing, and do you think I can find out who?

Muffin is eating a measured amount of food every day. So he is not overeating. This vomiting stuff has just started.

Okay, you measure it, and how much do you give at each serving? What I am saying is, make the servings smaller. Same total quantity every day, smaller more frequent servings.

Of course he may have a hairball. Mazy is regurgitating (what they do right after eating, still looks like food) her breakfast every second or third morning because of hair balls. She won't allow me to groom her and they are all shedding like crazy. I dose her with the hairball formula, and wait over an hour to feed breakfast, but it isn't helping her pass them, it's just helping her vomit them up with a meal.

I know undiagnosed vomiting in a special needs cat is worrisome.

If it keeps up of course, you'll want to call your vet.

Thanks, Otto, I will try that with his food. I am giving him hairball formula now every day. Both my cats are shedding and I am holding them down with a brush everyday.
