Idiopathic Geriatric Vestibular Syndrome

Sibby was diangnosed today with IGV does anyone have any experiance with this? She is on Steroids and Antibiotics for it. It is also known as Crooked Kitty Syndrome.

She has been desplaying almost stroke like behaviour. Walking funny, loosing her ballance and on some occasions even rolling over and falling.

The Vet discribed this as the pet seeing everything at a slant and trying to adjust for that slant but there is no slant so it looks almost as if they are drunk.

I would love to get information from other cat owners who have had to deal with this syndrome.
Thanks.

Hi, My cat Harry years ago had this. He was actually trying to walk on his front feet with his butt in the air! Bizzare!!

And someone else had it....I can't remember right now, I have had so many down through the years. It is a weird thing to witness.

I know it did clear up tho.

Keep us posted!!

Thank you everyone that read... Sibby was humanely put to sleep this afternoon.

What was thought to Be IGVS was not and instead was a more severe neurological disorder. She was unable to walk the past day and a half. She was on IV fluids and being force fed. In the end the look in her eyes told me that she was no longer here.

She was ready to meet Duke over the Rainbow Bridge. She is now resting peacefully with Duke, Tigger, Sam, and Smokey.
