I found this site doing a search. Nice to know there is a forum for those furry cat lovers out there.

I have 6 cats. Smokie age 9 (can't believe he's 9 already!), Faith 7, Charlie 7, Sassy (abt 12yrs), Lucky (abt 9 yrs), and Callie 3.

I recently took in Smokie because he had been throwing up a lot for the past two weeks or so. I had recently been changing food because Lucky has an allergy to a lot of cat foods so I was trying to find one that works for her. Took Smokie into the vet and the vet thinks it's irritation from the food changing that gave him a little infection. He's on antibiotics, and now put on hairball remedy as well. Hopefully in a week he'll be feeling better. I'm crossing my fingers that he'll be better now. Hope everyone can pray for him.

I've had two cats in the past that died of unknown causes. Peaches they weren't sure but thought it might be a tumor in her brain pressing on the part of it that controls water intake. She was retaining too much water. She was only 8 years old at the time. Then there was Hope. She was only 2 when she passed. The er doctor said it was most likely a congenital heart defect. So needless to say when something is wrong I tend to panic and think of the worst outcome possible.

I hope to be stopping by often! Glad I found this forum.

Hi there! Welcome! I am going through this right now only I don't know who is vomiting! I have 7 seniors and someone is the culprit.

I am glad you know who it is. I know cats can react to different ingredients differently.

I hope that is the case with your kitty. When you loose a cat to unknown ailments, it can make you paranoid when it comes to the others.

for your kitty, and let us know what the outcome is. We are always here.

Well the vet examined Smokie and said everything else was looking good. I told him what it looked like when he would throw up. He said that he probably had a stomach infection from the upset the food change was causing. He also put him on hairball regimen in case that was part of the problem too. He put him on antibiotics and said he should be feeling better within a week. I'm praying that this was the cause and that the medicine will help end it.

I had them on the cheap cat food a while back and the vet recommended eukanuba so I put them on that. Since Lucky was still pulling her fur out in spots, I changed them to Science Diet for sensitive stomachs. Smokie was then allergic to that and broke out in scabs. So then I tried Iams, Everyone was good on that, but then Callie broke out in scabs from Iams. So then I tried Mounds Natural cat food which uses chicken, lamb, rice and very low grain count. Then that's when I started to notice smokie would throw up once in a while. So then I went to Mounds and ask them if they had any food that was specifically for cats with allergies. They recommended Taste of the Wild which is a grain free diet. I've had them on it for about 3 weeks or so. And I was noticing that Smokie was throwing up on a daily basis and waited a few weeks to see if he would stop with the new food. He was not losing weight, he acted normal otherwise.

So, I'm hoping now with the meds he'll be back to normal.
