Why can't I pour coffee out of the coffee pot into my coffee mug without spilling it?

Why do I trip over and spill Mazy's water bowl every single day, even though it's been in the same place for twelve years?

Why can't I find the pen I had in my hand two seconds ago?

There were more, but I have forgotten what they were because I lost my pen so I couldn't write them down.

But the one that really bugs me the most is the coffee spilling

LOL! My glasses are progressive lenses, so they are mostly on all the time. the only time I take them off is when I am reading on the couch lying down, and in bed. And at both those spots I have a glasses case to put them in, so they do not wander!

And I think I do know why I trip over Mazy's water bowl and spill it, it is because she pulls it out a few millimeters every time she drinks. I've seen her do it, so I KNOW she does it, and I swear I hear muffled kitty laughter when I trip, spill, and curse.

But I have no one but myself to blame for the spilled coffee every time I pour.

I'm convinced it has to do with a combination of the shape of the pot, the pour spout, and the position one must hold their hand and wrist for pouring. The latter isn't the most natural position for one's arm when lifting anything - thus you get slightly less control.

Why do I trip over and spill Mazy's water bowl every single day, even though it's been in the same place for twelve years?
You don't look down?

Why can't I find the pen I had in my hand two seconds ago? Messy desk/tables?

Only the first answer is serious.

To avoid losing things, everything in my house has it's proper place. If put back in that place they don't get lost.

Try pouring with your non-dominant hand and see if you get less spills. Seriously, for the other things, I would have thyroid levels checked... especially if you find that you've put the scissors away in the freezer and stuff like that.

My thyroid levels are okay, I'm on synthroid.

Pouring the coffee I use my dominant hand to hold the pot, and my left hand to hold the perk cap (I use a stove top percolator)

My pens have their own place, too. But I was USING the pen, and two seconds later it was gone. Still haven't found it. Table I was sitting at was cleaned up last night, so no mess. I checked the fridge. It's not there. hehe

No, I don't look down when I walk through my house, I look at where I am headed. I shouldn't need to look down, the water bowl has been in the same spot for 12 years. Mazy moves it, I've seen her do it, but just a tiny bit.

I was actually hoping people would post their own mysteries for our collective entertainment, not try to solve mine, LOL!

So much for joking around a bit..

My life is pretty much demystified.
The only time things like what you're describing happen to me is when someone else messes with something, and that's no mystery.

I look down when walking through the house because it's littered with cat toys.. and cats.

I think that if we ever discovered the answer to that question the universe as we know it would cease to exist.
You don't really want to be responsible for that, do you?

Okay, so you are saying I am not the only one with this problem? Spilling coffee while pouring is universal. Whew, that is a relief!

I spill my coffee while pouring too, probably about half the time. It's pretty annoying.

I am constantly kicking the springy doorstops too, and they make a real loud noise, so BF knows I did it again, there's no hiding it. I don't know how my feet always end up right there at the stops on the doors, whether it's the front apt. door or the bedroom or bathroom door, doesn't matter.. WHY????

I do some stuff, but spilling my coffee is not one of them. That morning coffee is precious and I don't waste a drop. What I do is start one thing, get distracted and start something else and get distracted and start something else and get distracted ........oh well, you get the picture.

LOL! The questions were meant to be rhetorical, but you're right, it did sound like I was actually asking for answers. My goof.

my life's mystery is why when I get up to do a specific thing, wander into the kitchen/bathroom/bedroom, come back to the living room and sit down I've forgotten to do that specific thing and have to get up again
there's been a couple times where I have rinsed and repeated this process
Sometimes I give up!

Over the river and through the woods...
The answer to the coffee spilling thing is easy...the coffee growers are in co-hoots with the coffee pot makers which insures that coffee is spilled instead of enjoyed, hence more coffee sold! Also guarantees that everyone will eventually get tired of cleaning up spilled coffee and decide that they need a new pot just to see if the old one was defective (hint....they ALL are defective! It certainly can't be the human pourers fault. LOL!).

My questions are:

Why can't they invent a coffee pot that brews coffee that is the right temperature to drink right away...when you need it most?

Why is it when I finally break down and wash my car it rains, regardless of the weather forecast (yes, I do check first)?

What really happens to all the socks that get lost in the dryer, and do they miss their mates?

I came up with a theory for this years ago... Wormholes.
There is a theory that there are constantly immensely small wormholes always forming and disintegrating all the time. My theory is that rarely they're large enough to suck a sock up - where they go, who knows? Bermuda triangle? Parallel universe maybe? (in reality the socks are just get stuck under things) Or maybe that giant ball of plastic floating in the ocean has a large sock base at it's core?

Actually, I thought up a question. It's not really a mystery, but is something that I can't easily find an answer for. Why does tea, brewed up for use as iced tea, taste terrible after it has been put in the fridge and chilled?
Does chilling it in the fridge change something about it or is it just me?

Now that makes sense!

Actually, it does change if it goes from hot to cold to fast. Don't ask me how or why, but when I worked in a dinning we brewed our iced tea in the coffee pot and were told NEVER to add ice to it to cool it down quickly. We found out why. When cold hits hot tea it gets cloudy and changes the taste to a stale musty taste. And it looks just nasty! Best thing to do with iced tea is to let it cool to room temperature then put it in the fridge. Or, maybe the tea bags made especially for iced tea work better.

Oh, and I like the wormhole idea. Now I'm picturing all these people in the alternate universe coming up with extra socks and going crazy. Or, are WE getting THEIR extra socks, and thinking they are ours without mates...? Hmmmmm.....
