Kiki has been sneezing ever since we picked her up from having to board all the animals for 5 days. Now Whisper is sneezing. I called the kennel and they said sneezing isn't something that she would have "caught" at the kennel...they said maybe an allergy? Is sneezing in cats like kennel cough in dogs? Kiki has a clear discharge from her nose and Whisper seems to have a bit of discharge from his eyes. Is there a way to treat them at home or does it warrant yet another vet visit? I was thinking benedryl...what do you think?

Probably caught an upper respiratory infection while boarded, especially if your kitty felt any kind of stress from the change. Unfortunately, sounds like a trip to the vet is in your future.

yeah, going today at 3:45. I hope Whisper will be okay until then. He's got goopy eyes and I can see his third eyelids. Not to mention he looks like his meowing but no sound is coming out. He also looks like his breathing is labored. I'm very worried, but the ER vets I know off don't open up until the evening.

They both have upper resp. infections. They xrayed HWisper's lungs and said they look fine. Whisper is so much sicker than Kiki or at least sounds worse.

To make matters worse my dog bit a boy today and Animal Control came and took him away. I can't have him back where we live so now I'm trying to save him frm being put down.

I could really use some positive thoughts right now.

for all of your fur babies.

If at all possible.... I don't recommending boarding cats. They don't handle it well. I am so sorry they picked up URIs. In addition to whatever the vet gives you, warm their wet food so they can smell it and use steam for the congestion... take the cats into the bathroom and run a hot shower till it's steamy in there... 10 mins at least I would think. Just like a sick kid. Or in a room with a vaporizer.

And as soon as you can - start adding PURE L-Lysine powder to their wet food. This will help immensely with their immune fighting capacity. 500 mg/daily each to start, then 250 mg/day maintenance. 500 mg = 1/4 tsp.

Now brand on Amazon - 1 lb container about $15 including shipping.

Thank you for the advice. Poor Whisper he sounds awful. I have been taking him into the bathroom while I take a shower, but he's still so miserable.

I hope the kitties feel better fast, and that things work out well for your dog, and the boy, of course.

If you get a vaporizer, put eucalyptus oil in the little well where you'd normally put the vick's (or whatever that stuff is). That will really help open up their nasal passages. You can also put a big pot of water on to boil in the kitchen and add several drops of eucalyptus oil to the water.
