We have a seven year old Tonk, for the past month he has experienced nose bleeds with sneezing. First vet gave oral dose of anti-biotic for two weeks which did not fix problem. Second vet gave anti-biotic shots, a week apart with no positive results. Not a upper resp. infection. We are traveling and will make appointment with "Cat Only" vet in Tampa, FL next week.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

My cat's had bloody nasal discharge when she's had some severe sneezing. Since it's not getting any better with the antiobiotics already tried, have your vet do a culture and sensitivity test on the nasal discharge. This will tell you exactly what you're dealing with and which medication(s) will best treat it. That way you're not giving antibiotics haphazardly. Also, you may want to consider having your kitty tested for feline herpes using the Idexx Real PCR/URD test just to rule that out.

My cat had blood come out when he sneezed. The sneezing was the result of a URI, but the blood was from irritation in his nose that was caused by constant sneezing. As soon as he stopped sneezing, the blood stopped also. I would just confirm it is not a URI- my cat had no traditional URI symptoms (not tired, would eat, very playful, just didnt act sick) but he was sneezy. I would also see if he might have allergies that are causing his sneezing.

On another note, I have family in Tampa (I am actually here visiting now) and have always seen the cat vet. I am curious to hear how it is!
