Hello to all. This is a remarkable site. Well, what happened here is that we have had a death in our family. The lady had five cats. We have found a home for one of them, but have been unable to place the others. It was the lady's heartfelt wish that these four cats (average age: 13 years) be placed together. Cats are healthy, affectionate, indoor cats.

We are in the Minneapolis / St Paul area.

Thanks you so much for any help you can offer.

Welcome to TCS!

Unforunately, at their age & needing to go together - they will be difficult to place.

You can try checking with no-kill shelters, or perhaps checking with animal sanctuaries to see if they would be able to take them in to live their lives out.

Thanks for the welcome, White Cat Lover. It is going to be difficult to place the cats. We have to try, though. I didn't mention in the last post that all are spayed and have had shots.

We are trying to find no a kill shelter. This would be a last resort.

Thanks so much for your welcome and response!

I wish I could be of more help, but I'm in no position to take them in.

Most people will be very unwilling to take in 4 cats at once....I have a hard time explaining to people at the humane society here why they should adopt 2 kitties together!

You can try checking with local rescues, shelters, etc to see if they would do what I call a "courtesy posting" on Petfinder - listing the kitties on Petfinder to see if anyone would adopt them, while they reside with you (or wherever they currently are)

Kitten season having started, shelters are very full, & they are extremely disadvantaged being seniors. Do you have any pictures of them you could post?

Oh, that's an excellent idea, White Cat Lover. We do have pictures. And we will try for that courtesy posting.

Your comment about four being difficult to take is absolutely correct. We will try for two at a time.

All four cats are currently living in the house they lived in with their mistress. A family member is caring for them, there. The house will need to be sold, or will go into foreclosure, soon.

Just a very sad situation.

Thanks for your so thoughtful response, White Cat Lover.

I would try posting on Craiglist (though be very thorough in checking that they go to a new home). You also might want to try local places where young professionals spend time? I know a lot of people my age who recently graduated and have no pets might be more able to take in a group of cats-- especially in some sort of situation where many students were living together and could care for the cats as a group? I'd try local university postings. Is the veterinary school near you? (I have no concept of Minnesota geography ) New vet students may be willing to care for a group of cats together?

Did this women belong to a church? How about putting something in a church bulletin or something like that? Did she belong to any organizations where you could put out a plea for help.

Those are very good ideas. Thanks so much for taking the time to post. We will explore these options.
