My cat's face just doesn't quite look right today. No one else thinks anything is wrong, but I am convinced that his upper right lip is just the smallest bit swollen. He doesn't mind if I touch it or lift up his lip. There isn't a cut or a sore inside his mouth. He is eating, drinking, happy, playing, etc. Has this happened to any cats you know? Can this wait until my vet office opens after Memorial Day? Is there anything I should do before then?

I would keep an eye on it and see if it gets any bigger or if there's a change in his behavior, eating, or bathroom habits. He could've gotten an ant bite or something like that, too.

Possibly a Rodent Ulcer. It is an inflamatory lesion in gums of cats. It does not come from a rodent bite though.

Hopefully you can get your kitty to the vet. I had a couple of cats develop this. They attempted to remove it with a laser. That failed and I believe Spot went on a regimen of antibiotics and it cleared it up.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

I had the same intuition as farleyv, I thought rodent ulcer.

Here is a decent page about it and what might cause it (not known definitively):

Seems like the first order of treatment focuses on curing any secondary infection, eliminating allergies, and reducing environmental exposure to potential irritants. Not fun, but certainly not the worst thing that could happen. Good luck!
