Well I figured since I posted pics of the kitty I might as well stop in and post a quick update on my progress. Backstory, incase anyone missed it, March 15 I was heading to San Antonio from El Paso (like a 7-8 hr drive) with a friend, our 5 children (my 3, her 2) and our 4 dogs (her 2 and my 2) and about 2 hrs out of SA it was raining and we hit a slick of oil. The car flipped over twice and hit a wall that stopped us. My friend broke 2 of her lower ribs and I broke my left clavicle. Well it turned out that I ended up needed surgery (found out the 31st, went in the 1st) to put in a plate and 6 screws.

Well, here we are, nearly 2 months later, and I'm doing a lot better. I've finally got most of the feeling back in my chest (I had some nerve damage from the surgery) and I'm able to move my arm a lot more than what I thought I'd be able to by now. I'm still in physical therapy once a week (although I have to go back for a consult for them to "adjust" my therapy) and it sucks but it's helping. I still can't lift anything over 5lbs, can't pick my arm up further than a 90 degree angle straight out, BUT I can drive, dress myself and do my own hair, lol. On the down side now that I do have feeling back and most of the swelling is gone, I'm feeling the plate way more and my scar hurts like an SOB and feels like it's tearing some days. I wake up uber stiff if I leave my AC on at night, which sucks majorly. I'm hoping I'll adjust before we move to CO in Jan/Feb because I really don't know what I'll do then. But at the end of the day all that matters is we're all alive and, aside from myself, in one piece

Oh my lord! That is terrible! I'm glad you are healing up though, and yes PT is a pain in more ways than one. At least you are mobile and getting around now. That must have been so scary! Welcome back and keep us up to date while you're getting back to 100%.

Thank you. Everyone else is doing wonderfully. The kids barely had a scratch on them, my friend had the 2 broken ribs but she's healing very well and only my 2 dogs had some minor scratches from the glass but they're already fully healed. I took the worst of it and, while it does suck, I'd take it all over again just to assure the safety of everyone else. These may be a bit graphic but here's a few photo's of my van after the accident (when we went to see it 2 days later)

This is the area that stopped us when it hit the wall

My window was the ONLY one that didn't shatter/bust out, and my door wouldn't open so I had to get my friend out then get myself out through the passenger side (mind you the car was upside down)

My friends 2 kids were in the middle row (built in child seats) my 2 dogs were tied to the floor next to them and my kennel was behind our seats/in front of them. The other kennel, and the other 2 dogs, were in the trunk (the dogs were tied to the trunk). Her kennel was totally mangled but her dogs didn't even have a scratch on them. Not to mention all the lose things (cans of soda, ect) that were in the van. It really was by some massive miracle that we all made it out as well as we did.

Wow after seeing those pictures you should be happy to be alive.

Edit: after completely reading your above post, I see that you didn't come out as well as I thought, sorry I hadn't read the whole post, the pics made me go right to them. I hope your pain subsides soon and so sorry you got pretty beat up.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I didn't know about the trip, and I'm so sorry for all you're going through now - but WOW - those are scary pictures (let alone a scary experience!!
).

I am SO GLAD everyone and the pets survived. You're going through quite a bit - but you're right - it could have been a lot worse.

There were notices everywhere around here last year - a couple was heading home from vacation and had their cats with them - same thing - an accident - only the cat carriers broke in the accident and they ran away. Massive search parties were formed, major trapping efforts were made - but the kitties were not found and reunited with their people.
I'm so glad nothing like that happened.

you continue recovering - that the pain subsides, and your arm movement ability increases.

Thanks for the good thoughts everyone. It deff was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced. I'm so sorry to hear about that family that lost their kitties. As much as I was glad that all of us humans were ok, had anything happened to any of the dogs I would've been completey and utterly devistated. It was bad enough I made them take me off the morphine in the hospital and was worried sick because that was the FIRST time my dogs had ever been away from me and I know they were terrified (my friend had to get them out the car because they wouldn't let anyone else near them/the van).

Here's the pics of my xrays. I don't have the initial one from the day of the accident but this was was taken March 24 (9 days after the accident)

this was taken right after my surgery
