I am finally getting my German Shepherd!!!

Wooooot!! For those of you who know me you should know I have been going crazy to get a GSD for like ever lol but the boyfriend was not on board…. Well I don’t know what happened but he decided (seemingly overnight) that whatever makes me happy he’s cool with! He is even excited with me!

Since I have been having bad luck with dogs I have not said anything other than on other boards to ask about puppy stuff, I didn’t want to jinx it…. But come Saturday early afternoon, I will have my puppy!

I know we have a million of these posts but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a cutesy name? I may name her Navah, since I find it beautiful, but I have always loved going to daycare or training class and laugh at hearing some of the cute names the dogs are called. I absolutely love Nibbles… but for some reason I really cant see a German Shepherd named Nibbles lol.

That’s it, just wanted to shout out to the world my happiness!

PS: Pics to come soon. I know some of you don’t like dogs but I’m guessing most everyone loves puppy pics LOL.

Cool! Who's your breeder? Show lines or working lines? American lines or German lines? Post lots of pics! GSD pups are THE cutest.

I pick her up tomorrow. I am sooooo excited but sooooo nervous! I haven’t had a puppy in over a decade and even then my Mom did all the hard work LOL.

I will have lots of pics soon I’m sure lol. I’m planning on taking lots since Shepherds don’t stay puppish looking for very long and I am guessing this will be the only puppy I will ever be getting in my life.

My breeders name is Narnia Kennels. She is of working lines with a great pedigree (without getting into the long details of it all). Her bloodline is a mix of Czech, and Belgium/German. I can PM her parent’s names if anyone is interested to see the Pedigrees.

I did go big with this dog for safety and health reasons. I had a lot of issues with my last German Shepherd rescue with health and an angry/ neurotic temperament. It’s the reason why I decided on a puppy and not an adult dog that I originally wanted, I can’t afford that with my three cats and my pansy dog, GSD’s do have high prey drives and that’s scary when you don’t know the background.

I will be joining our local Schutzhund group with her. With her bloodlines it would be a shame not to. Plus I really don’t think a “working†type breed is ever really happy unless they are doing some sort of job. I will see what sort of things she is good at and take it from there. Seeing that her father is a certified cadaver and narcotics dog I am thinking something fun with tracking. We will see! Either way I am excited to finally be getting my perfect breed, and to start a new hobby with who will soon be my best friend =) doesn’t get better then that!

Having had a sad experience with SAR and cadaver dogs and seeing how important that work is, I think I'd like to get into some kind of tracking with my next dog. It'll be a few years....I have 3 big hairy dogs and the oldest is only 8. But that would be really awesome.

Yeah, GSDs aren't a breed you want to skimp on breeders (not that you want to go with any sub-standard breeder with any dog). The hip problems alone are enough.

Congrats! How exciting!
I really want to get into tracking with my GSD too, she did some tracking in her previous home and she is really good at it. I've been trying to find a club in my area.

Our first dog when I was a kid was a purebred German Shepard named Princess.
I was only 4 years old then.
Congrats on the dog.

She’s great!!! The only thing I don’t understand is how so much evil can fit into such a little body LOL . To say she has turned our calm, relaxed household upside down is a serious understatement! She is a very bad little girl, but I guess that’s to be expected.

She is super smart and already knows the words Peepee, sit, crate, her name, and is doing well at focusing on my eyes for training. First night, since she wasn’t crate trained she was up ALL night, I got maybe 2 hours sleep. Last night I spent and good 6 hours making the crate seem super awesome to her. We watched movies and TV in the bedroom and I sat in front of it playing with her in it. She was great last night! Slept through the night (Aside from the pee breaks every two hours) but went right back to sleep when she was done her peepee.

The cats hate her, but are not afraid of her. Bruno hates her and has started growling at her since she is SOOOOO very annoying lol. We are letting them sort things out themselves, nothing has gotten aggressive.

All I got to say is she is lucky she is cute!! LOL But her and I are doing some serious bonding, I know I made the right choice with her, I already head over heels! I just hope this puppyhood ends sooner than later! For the whole packs sake!

I love her broken ear. I know it will fix but i kind of hope it doesnt Lol

The only time she is ever good... When she is sleeping LOL

Navah being super cute (I love the brown arms and feet but smudged black toes!)

Of course video

EDIT: Made pics smaller
