Hello All - it’s been a very long time since I’ve been on the board. All my babies are currently healthy, with the exception of Ringworm! AGAIN! I have battled this off and on for the entire 8 years I have had my 2 persians. The past 18 months have been ringworm free and now it is back. The wonderful products that I have always used to combat this are no longer available (Malaseb Pledgets & Malaseb Spray). The company that made these products (DVM Pharmaceuticals), was shutdown by the FDA a few months ago. So… I have done some research online to find something comparable, however, the ingredients in other products are not the same. The Malaseb Spray I was using had 2% Miconazole Nitrate which did wonders for the ringworm. I’m at a loss as to what I am going to use now that I can no longer get these products. I need to find something. If anybody else out there is going thru this and has found alternative products, please, please, let me know. They also get dipped using the Lyme Sulphur, but it was nice to have a spray for those couple of problem areas in between. Since the Lyme Sulphur seems to work so well, I was wondering if I could just dilute that with some water and put it in a spray bottle. I’m open to ideas!

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

My best experience was with Fluconazole oral medication for 6 weeks - has gotten rid of ringworm on dozens upon dozens of cats at the shelter.

What is the general cost of Fluconazole? Is it liquid or pill?

It was a pill. Since we are buying in bulk & treating a lot of cats at the shelter, I don't know an exact cost. But last I figured it was about $20 to treat an adult cat. That's probably with a discount from our vet, as we are a shelter - so I'd check with your vet to see what it would cost, as cost also can vary from area (I'm in a rural region - medical care is more $$ in larger cities).

I've got everyone on Fluconazole now. Fortunately, the foster director's vet is able to get it very cheap so I got a bottle of 100 tables for $35.00. The tablets are then split into quarters so that's 400 doses!

Having had my own cats/foster cats develop ringworm, in a multi-pet household, I feel your pain!
