Work is rather busy lately and stressful. Longer hours are killing me too. I am really curious to know how others cope with work and especially if it is a stressful work environment??

I'm always behind at work and it would be easy to get frazzled because I can never keep up with all of the paperwork or phone calls coming in. However, I look at it as a continuing process and do what I can each day through prioritizing what is important and what can wait. It keeps me sane.

I leave work at work when I go home.

Actually, I don't have an outside job. But I decided to answer here because I am married to a preacher. That can be very stressful at times, because there is so much that has to be done. If it wasn't for the Lord, my husband and I couldn't do what we do. When I feel real stressed, I play with my cats on my porch, or I play my guitar. It soothes me and gets my mind off things for awhile.

Right now I am counting the days until I leave this job.

The fact that I am leaving it and joining the ranks of the unemployed adds to that but in the end I am hopeful that things will work out.

But regular gripe sessions with a co-worker helps as does leaving my problems at the office.

My coworkers and I have little *itchfests on the cab stands. Sometimes it is the only way to keep from choking some of these idiots wandering around loose. If I get someone really bad, I will pull over and put them out where ever we are. Usually just pulling over will shut them up. The look on the face of someone being told they are too obnoxious to ride in a cab is priceless.

I/we complain a lot...often out loud...at work. It's not the work itself, it's all of the changes going on that usually fail. I'm still trying to figure out who is screwing us over more- the local or management (both are incompetent).

School is a great distraction from work. If I could quit my job and go to school full time I would but that doesn't pay bills or put food on the table (or the cat bowl). I bought a new computer last night and a couple of new games. Those are always good for stress release on the rare occasions I take my foul mood from work home with me. I try not to think about work when I'm off the clock. I like to think the place doesn't exist as soon as I clock out and leave the building.

I work in HR,and it can,and has been, very stressful lately.I try and take a deep breath and count to 10.Sometimes it works and other times I feel like I've been counting all day!In my position,we can't vent with co workers, and I really can't vent with my spose either. My direct supervisor is a great source of insight and we talk things out on a regular basis....thank goodness!

I get away from reality with a book usually. I read on my lunch break
Video games too, although sometimes that doesn't work because it can create tension for me also, depending on the game.
Sometimes I'm so exhausted mentally that I prefer to just sit there on my break, not thinking, not doing anything and just recharging

I've been coming home from work in a good mood regardless, it doesn't carry over for me, the moment I step out of work I am happy and carefree because I know I don't have to think about it until the next day.
My job hasn't been too stressful yet though, I've been there about a week and a half

What sucks the most for me is that work seems to take sooo much of my time!! I haven't worked full time ever before, and I wake up at 6:30 am now and come home at around 6, because I have a long commute. (the work hours are 8-5) I feel like I don't have enough time to do anything

Seriously though, i try and not stress, but if i'm having a day with an awkward employee like i did last week over his contract, i sat and stared at him while he was moaning thinking "You silly little man, your stressing and i couldn't give monkeys, because in one hour i'll be leaving to go home and your going to be still working!!"

Love that picture!

My sister is a school principal and I'm a planner. Our jobs can get stressful. We've started to try to get together once or twice a week, drink a bit of wine or some Smirnoff Ice. Sometimes it's coffee (or in her case, tea) and cake. Just a nice visit with each other to get it all out of our systems. We whine and snot and carry on, then we're OK again.

We've also started to exercise together. She'll come over and we'll take turns with the Bowflex and the free weights. Exercise gets rid of a lot of the stress.

Other than that, sometimes I flop down on the couch with a good book.

The men in my office (and a few women) would be very happy if I took your advice keycube.
BTW: Everyone at work that walked by was cracking up.

My coworkers and I do have crab fests. But I really hate complaining and dwelling on the negative. I am just worn out I guess. I did book a cruise for September which is keeping me afloat (pun intended) till then. Its been over two years which is probably why I am not coping very well.

I hate not having time to take care of things too. By the time I get out of here I have enough time to take care of the cats and eat and then go to bed. I haven't had my haircut in I don't know how long....

But I will adjust and deal with it I suppose.
I use the rescue remedy stuff which calms me and use aromatherapy during the day to deal with things that arise. and when all else fails I look at i can has cheezeburger!

I operate a daycare in my home, and have three teens/preteens of my own, and a hubby who sometimes acts preteen, and just going to my back porch and lying on the swing with a good book will do it for me...

Not well. Constant stress really does a number on me.
I try to prepare food on time off for advance, to make life easier. Try to take walks and connect with nature, as nature makes my heart soar. I go out of my way to avoid tv, to spend time connecting with those, both human and animal, around me.
I also try to pray and count my blessings. I always remember no matter what hand I am dealt that there are others that would give anything to have these problems, and life really isn't all that bad for me living in America. I have had a particularly rough year and lost two loved ones and another is battling an illness, financially suffered due to the economy, and a lot is going on, but I try to stay focused, grounded, and remember how very lucky I am to be alive and have food/a roof over my head and good people and animals in my life.
