I'm sure that's what she was thinking, anyways...

I was playing the piano tonight, and meanwhile Sophie woke up from probably her 5th nap of the day, ate, wandered around, and then decided she was bored. She sniffed the boxes laying out on the floor, and started chirping pitifully at me for boring her. You know, the "Woe is meeeee-ow...." kinda talk.

So I pat my lap as I'm playing the piano to invite her up, and she jumps up. But simply sitting on my lap will not do. I see that glint in her eye, and she puts her front paws on my shoulder, and starts to shimmy her back legs up my torso so that I would put my arm underneath her bum, and end up holding her like you would burp a baby.
Cute, Sophie. Very cute. I scratch and pat her bum, cuddle and talk to her. She even rests her chin on my shoulder, looking as if she'll nod off any second. She's successfully interrupted my practice session now. I go to put her down on the bench next to me, but she will have NONE of that, thank you very much. She grips with her claws just hard enough to say "Don't think about it Missy!" After two more unsuccessful attempts to dislodge baby, err, kitty from shoulder, I gave up. I close up the piano, and start off for bed, collecting my laptop and a book and turning off lights - all with her still attached to me.

She contently sat in my arms for another 5 or so minutes on my bed, as I read online, until she decided she'd had enough, and left me for a nook to go sleep.

(Yes, she is actually on top of my laptop here, lol... must have been warm... or I spent one too many hours on it...)

Nuts does that when Paul gets home from work. Paul has to carry him back to the bedroom with him. He gets quite mad if Paul doesn't do it.

Nuts loves to walk around whining all the time, I hate that meow. It makes it more likely for him to get what he wants when he whines just to get him to shut up.

Both Carly and Lucy will do that when I'm at the computer. Needless to say, I have very short posts because I can't type well with one hand.

Nice story, TY. If my cat did that it would be like having a sack of potatoes clinging to me. As it is, she sleeps in the bed at night but cant perch on me, like she wants. "Binky I love you but your just to heavy"

Heh. Cute story. My Raven will insist on being on my right arm (and chest) while I'm at the desktop. I will have to worm my hand down so I can type with both hands, but it's not always possible. The things we do for our cats.

Attitude loves to walk on my stomach. it HURTS to have 11 lbs of cat putting their paws down in very uncomfortable spots. I have to push her off and she comes right back, it just depends on where her paws are as she walks on me as to if it hurts or not.

Nuts also wants to lay on my chest. Both love to do that, but only to me they both only walk around and lay down in Paul's lap, of course considering Paul's anatomy I often wonder which one of us has the shorter end of the stick.

If you think an 11 lb cat hurts, try a 20 pound one! Tonight I kind of laid down on the floor because I was waiting for DH to get ready so we could go out to dinner. I knew if I sat on the couch, Swanie would be on my lap. My strategy didn't work though, because after a minute of leaning against me, he decided to climb on. Ooof! I wouldn't dream of pushing him off, though. Usually when I want him to get off, I offer him a treat, somewhere away from my lap / chest / tummy.

I had an 80 lb Old English Sheepdog who thought she was a lap dog. Nothing like having 80 lbs of dog sitting on your lap. Of course that was better than the time she decided to lay down on my NECK, I managed to grab her collar before she sat all the way down and strangled me.

It seems the bigger the dog or cat is the more likely they are to want to sit their heavy butts on you somewhere. Spaz
was 7.5 lbs and she wouldn't dream of ever sitting on your lap.

It is the fact that they walk on my stomach area that hurts, that area isn't designed for having cats walk all over it. I swear Attitude routinely stabs my liver walking over me, lol. She seems to know exactly where to step to do it too. Of course it isn't too much fun when they settle on my chest in just the right position that I can barely breathe. Nuts is around 10- 11 lbs as well so when both of them do it at the same time, and they do, I know the pain of a 20 lbs cat, it makes breathing 20 times harder.
