I have a book, The Best Loved Poems and Ballads of James Whitcomb Riley, that was written and published circa 1887. It's about 123 years old. Besides that, I'm the oldest thing in the house

Good one Bellaandme!

An old friend of my fathers passed away and left me his library. Many first editions and books from 1700 and 1800's.

A couple first edition Mark Twain. Of course, my house is pretty old too!

This antique kitchen clock, circa mid-1800's. It belonged to my great grandmother, and has been handed down to the oldest daughter of each generation. Not sure where it will go after me, since I don't have any children. I'll probably leave it to my cousin's daughter, so it will stay in the family.

I also have my grandmother's wedding dress.

My piano. It's almost 120 years old. It's a Jacob Brothers upright, and I bought it, newly restored, in a Brooklyn piano store. I thought it was old, but I didn't realize how old until I saw a label on the back that said it was a facsimile of a blue ribbon won at the World's Colombian Exposition of 1893. (???) I have no idea what that is, but it means the piano is that old at least.

It's in amazingly good shape. Needs a tune-up right now, but those old uprights really stand up! (No pun intended)

Hmmmm... off the top of my head, I think of the pair of lamps that belonged to DH's grandparents. That would make them a hundred years old, at least, maybe more. I have some fairly ancient photos, including some baby pictures of Dad -- so those are not much short of 100 years. I think there's older stuff among Dad's things, though it's several years since I've gone through those things, so specifics do not come to mind just now.

An Egyptian ushabti that I bought for DH for Christmas a few years ago. It's dated to about 600 BC.

I have both sets of my great-grandmother's wedding china from the late 1800s. Unfortunately with six cats in the house, it remains packed away in boxes. I also have her old cookie cutters, rolling pin, and spice bottles. Her hutch stands in my kitchen; my great-grandfather made it for her after they married they married. She had an antique rocking chair that is now in our computer room. I lived with my great-grandmother during summer vacations from school and I used to rock myself to sleep in that chair. Although these things may not have a lot of monetary value, they are worth so many memories to me and I hope to give them to my grandchildren someday.

When my great-grandparents adopted my mother (her mom was killed in an accident when my mother was seven years old), they gave her a beautiful desk. I have the desk in our hallway in the house. Above the desk on the wall is an antique mirror that used to hang in my great-grandmother's living room.

We have some other things, too, but these are the items that mean the most to me.

I have my parents wedding picture, I had it restored back in the 70's and it is beautiful. My parents were wed in 1927 and the wedding gown was really something to see. I had it put in the most beautiful frame, it has been hanging on my wall ever since I restored it. It is very special to me.
