My cat is drinking excessive water after surgery

My kitty Pandora is a 1 and 1/2 year old rescue from the humane society who just had to have surgery to remove some lumps from her abdomen. She was spayed in January right before I adopted her. I discovered she had a couple of small lumps in her belly two weeks ago and had them removed on Tuesday. My vet sent one of the lumps off to be biopsied to find out what it is. She said she thought it was just mammary tissue but wanted to make sure.

Now after her surgery she is drinking a lot of water. I was wondering if this is normal?

Also does anyone have any experience with any of the above? I am really worried about my baby girl.

My Jack had a sarcoma removed about 3 weeks ago. He drank a ton in the week or so following the surgery but he's back to normal now.

Thanks!

My kitty seems to be back to normal now.

The vet called and gave me good news, she doesn't have cancer. The lumps were related to the Humane Society spaying her while she was in heat which caused a hormonal in balance which caused the lumps. I was so relieved to hear that she's going to be okay.

Oh, she is pretty!!! I'm glad you got good news - and believe me, vets are used to get calls from nervous pet parents - never fear to call them, and if they're not nice about it, start looking around for another vet.
