Hi all,

I'm cat-sitting for my brother, and his cat is rather chubby. She's always had trouble cleaning her ladyparts, and was recently treated for an infection with Clamavox.

I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem, and if so, what methods are used to assist a cat in keeping their genital areas clean? I have her with me for nearly a week, so if I can get her clean back there, I can make sure she doesn't have a relapse with the infection.

Thanks very much for your help.

The best solution is to get her to lose some weight so she can do it herself, but until that happens, you might want to see if you can't wipe her down with a warm wet cloth. I know they sell kitty wipes to use with kittens, so that might be an option.

Thanks Stephanie.

I managed to get her to stay still enough last night to wipe her down a bit, but she still needs more work. I don't know that she gets help as often as she needs. (She is on a regimen to help her lose weight, but it's in its early stages thus far.)

Bella has a weight issue. She is losing the pounds gradually, but she has the same problem. I have to tend to her "business-end" on occasion and she is very patient with me. But I just use a warm damp towel. She has very long hair and I also keep that end trimmed up a little bit. She used to get poo stuck in her fur and that would send her into a panic. I'd have to chase her around the apartment with towel in hand and poo flying...sorry TMI

I found a washcloth, a flea comb and a towel. Wet the area with the washcloth and then use the flea comb to comb out any solids and to get rid of a lot of the staining and then any staining left is easier to clean up with the washcloth.

Attitude is a fat pig so she has the same issue and her long Maine Coon Hair doesn't help and I think she would have this trouble fat or not.
