I left my apartment, the door slammed behind me. IT SLAMMED! I realized I didn't lock it, but thought, I'll just be gone for ten minutes. So I left and got my lunch. I came back and the door was open! And Cammy was standing there. She saw me and took off. I managed to catch her because she stopped to smell Hef.

Abbey, my good girl was laying just inside, calmly watching.

I really can't figure out how she got it open. She's always scratching the door. But, I don't know.

Mt cats always open doors.... (not to the outside, I keep those locked)

I have seen them lay on the ground and stick their paw under the door and pull ... I have even seen Kiko standing on his back paws with his front paws on a door knob.. Im not kidding!! They even know which way to pull or push a door.

LOL, it just seems really sturdy, I made sure it latched and pulled and pulled. And there's no way she could turn the door knob...

I guess I'll just have to start locking it all the time.

It might have slammed hard enough that it bounced back and didn't latch. Then all it would take is a slight pressure change (someone opening/shutting their door, ac kicking on) to pop it open. But locking the door when you leave is always a good idea, you really can't trust people anymore.

It would have to be Kiko, right?

Forrest is our door opener. Even the regular round door knobs. I've never seen him do it...only heard him and seen the results. It's made life a bit more of a challenge when I want to keep him in..or out of a room.

Fortunately the doors to the outside "stick" a little bit and even I have to pull a bit to get them open. Otherwise he'd be outside in a flash.

Never underestimate the intelligence of our little fur kids. They are smarter than we realize.

One of my balcony doors sticks and takes a little extra push to actually latch even if it slams; sometimes I forget, and the cats end up on the balcony (which I don't really mind, because they're allowed out there anyway when the weather's nice enough to leave a door open). My front door's latch needs some WD-40 and doesn't always actually latch, so I absolutely have to lock the door; I once forgot for a few hours, looked up, saw the door open and only the back half of Squirrel (super-skitty even of me), and snapped my fingers hoping she'd startle in instead of out because I knew no way was approaching her going to work...she ran back in, and Panther followed her, so Panther was completely outside for at least a few seconds...and they weren't yet spayed and there's a free-roaming apparently intact tom on the property. That could've been bad. (I mean, I love kittens and all, but there's no need to make them from scratch.)
