Come home from shopping today and went to check on the kittens. One of the tortishells had died, and the calico was on the verge of death. I took her to the vet and left her, the other two are doing good though. The other tortie is fat and sassy, and the little black one is good too, he was the runt so he is still so small.

It was an all of the sudden thing, as they were all up and playing yesterday. This morning all of them had gooped up eyes and when I would clean them, this nasty green goop would just pour out of their eyes.

The lil black one and the tortie are just as playful as can be. I have no idea was caused this and I'm scared that it could happen to them, even though they appear playful/fine.

I cried so hard while driving the calico to the vets office. I was so heartbroken in doing so but I knew it was best.

Pray for her (We called her Sugar as she was so sweet) and the survivng two (Coco (tortie) and Squeak (since he squeaks instead of meows).

And Godspeed to my Chanel. You will be one of many kitten angels.

I would watch them.
My friend who is a sphynx breeder lost 2 kittens already and every kitten is sick. It sounds like your kittens have the same thing they had.
When kittens get sick it goes fast.
I hope your kittens will be ok.
It happened to me years ago also.

Did they ever find out what they had? I'm thinking about just taking the other two to the vet as well. They can hopefully bypass sickness in the other two and find them good homes, esp since I am having a hard time finding them homes anyways.

I don't want to risk them getting sick and me not getting to them in time and the same thing happening with them. Plus, I hate being heart-broken when something like this happens.

I just hope the momma will be ok. All he babies gone in one day. =[

I'm sorry for your loss. I do think that the other 2 are still better off with their mama. Didn't you just give them a bath the other day? They may have gotten too cold and sick from that.

I don't want to risk the possibility of infection to my other cats since I'm a multi-cat home. Since I can barely afford my current adult cats, I thought it would be best to just try and bypass all infections from these little guys. I have a spaying scheduled for my two adult females next month. It's hard enough being a student and still having to live with my parents who are EXTREMLY old fashioned and think all pets should be outside and to 'let nature take its course' when dealing with them.

I can do without any heartbreak dealing with the cats.

Yes, I did just give them a bath the other day. After the bath I put them in the box with a towel covered heating pad to prevent cold, but it may not have helped since they got sick so quick.

I understand the parents thing. I don't live with mine but I still have to deal with them. Lol. With a heating pad they shouldn't have been cold. There's always the fading kitten syndrom. But I do have to say that any time you have animals there's always going to be heartbreak eventually. It's part of life. I have 4 rescue cats, 3 kittens, and a rescue dog that I have to find homes for. It will be hard but it has to be done.

Kittens are much more fragile than most people realize, and almost any disease that would just be a passing discomfort in an adult can kill them in a very short time.

I'm sorry about your kittens. I know it can be heartbreaking; I've had it happen to me, too.

I'm so sorry
. Kittens are just so delicate, and the slightest things push them off the edge. I know the feeling...
for Sugar, Coca and Squeak.
