How long is too long?

Carly still hasn't had her kittens. Since the woman I got her from gave her to me pregnant, I have no idea when she got that way so everything is a guess. I've felt kittens for 20 days now. I've seen milk for 5. She's been nesting for weeks. I took her to the vet in what he thought was her 4th week and he said 4 more weeks. That was almost 2 weeks ago. I take her temperature twice a day and last week I had two days of below 100 and no kittens. She looks like she swallowed a watermelon and she's a small 7 pound cat. My question is, at what point is it too long and you need to seek the vet to induce labor? Should I just wait it out since she's eating normally still very playful and loving, and using her litter box with no problems? She had some diarrhea but I think those issues are under control now. I just feel helpless.

Have you felt movement for 20 days? Or just kittens?

Movement. I've felt kittens since the moment I found out she was pregnant. I got her at what I thought was 3-4 weeks into her pregnancy based on the symptoms I read online. She had bright pink nipples, was already rounding (that's what had me looking online to see symptoms) and very hungry. I've had her now almost 6 weeks. 6 weeks this Friday.

The last cat I took in pregnant was in 05...the vet said 3 weeks tops...ha she went 5 and some and popped out 5 babies. She nested ALOT the last day and week before was nasty-I would run out of room with her in full attack mode. I never did temps and I just took more of a wait and see approach as she seemed to be in no pain and I know vets tend to have a big window predicting cats due date. If it feels wrong try a new vet would be my advice if at all possible

Kittens are moving and she seems fine. She's a long hair cat so I have to clean her behind a lot even after trimming some hair. I was cleaning her up last night and noticed what looked like white discharge in her vulva area. I left it there. I was assuming it was her plug but never saw more of it again.

Were you told any number? Sorry to tired to search.

It's been a few years, but I thought cat pregnancies were 9 weeks, so you should be ok.

My story is that I took Elsa into the vet and he said "10 days, MAX, at least 2 kittens." It was 3 weeks later, and EIGHT kittens, LOL.

The thing that made her go into labor was me making my first post on The Cat Site asking, "Overdue Pregnancy?"

Some cats have changes in their behavior before...some cats do absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. So we'll just keep up with the story and see how it goes!

This reminds me of a few years ago a cat named skittles had everyone waiting...Think she had 7 maybe more but fuzzy in details. Not sure if its still on here

He said he felt 3. I'm pretty sure there are more than 3, I think I feel 4. I think she might be a Siamese mix. I was told she was a Himalayan but I don't think she's full blooded either one. If she's a Siamese mix it would make sense for her to be holding onto those kittens for a long time.

I think she is getting close. But if you are worried you can take her to the vet. I have read that sometimes they fail to go into labor. I don't think that's Carly's problem though. Some cats will carry for 10 weeks.

Yeah that's my luck, a 70 week pregnancy.

It's going to take every member on this forum to will her to have them I think. She's quite the stubborn little thing. Either that or they are.

Yeah, I think we have seen how stubborn she can be.

just a funny tidbit-Taurus Dislikes: disruption, !!!being rushed!!!, being indoors, being pushed too hard and any break in routine lucky number 6

taurus goes till may 20 then geminis are from May 22 - June 21 according to the same site? but anyway lucky number is 5. I like looking at that stuff

Wow, she REALLY likes having them in there! I'd say if she doesn't have them by the end of the weekend go see a vet. I mean, 20 days is ALOT of time for mouvment.

Nope she's acting normal except she can't get around well. She's eating, playing, using the litter box all just fine. I should take her temp before I go to bed.

She sure is a stubborn girl. LOL. Have you told her that she can't keep them inside forever?

I'm a little worried now after reading some things online about cats going past their due dates. Thing is I don't know her due date but I do know that I've seen milk for a week now, felt kittens for 3 weeks, and seen kittens for 2 weeks. It would seem to me that she's a week overdue. Sometimes when they go over like that it can mean that there are issues preventing labor from happening.
That is always a possibility. By a week over what day do you think she is on? Before or after 70?

I think she'd be 67 days today by a website that says milk comes in day 60. She's got thick discharge coming out right now. It's pink tinged so I'm assuming her mucous plug is finally coming out.
