Snowflake and Ralph...RIP

Thread Starter
Two weeks ago my Snowflake passed away very unexpectedly. She was my sweet white 14 year old kitty. I adopted her from the shelter. She was a young mom with 2 kittens--and then someone found 3 kittens under a trailer with no mama, so she took them as her own and fed them until weaned. I felt that a girl with such a sweet gift deserved a wonderful home. She had extra toes and curly ears. She never really wanted to be in the house much, so she made herself at home in the dog house with Ralph, the golden retriever. They were best buddies Ralph had been very sad when Snowflaked passed away. Then this weekend the unthinkable happened, and Ralph passed away too! We have no clue what happened to him. Hubby suspects that he was bitten by a snake, but couldn't find evidence because Ralph was so furry!
I am devastated....I have cried until I thought my eyes would bleed.
People at work say "just go get another one", and they don't understand that these were not "just animals" they were my family!!
My heart is broken....

I am so sorry your heart is broken. I understand. Animals mourn their losses too. Maybe that is what happened to Ralph. If ever you decide to get another pet, you will know when the time is right. For now, you need some time to recover from this shock. I pray that the time will come when your memories will bring you comfort instead of pain.

Oh, how sad that you should lose them both so close together Take your time and let yourself grieve. People who don`t have pets or don`t have that special bond with a pet can be so insensitive but they are the ones missing out on something beautiful.

One day when the time is right you will have only happy memories and then maybe you can welcome another needy animal into your home

Condolences on losing two very special members of the family. I guess Ralph really wanted to be with his Miss Snowflake My dog Tasha was that way when my horses both passed. In fact, at the vet's, Tasha was fighting leaving and after the 2nd try, I told her, "Tasha, go get Tinker (my horse)" and instantly, her ears pricked up & she was gone...the vet looked up, teary-eyed, and said, "She just did".
Play happily over RB, Snowflake & Ralph, and please say "hi" to my little Joey and all our other TCS RB crew

i'm so sorry you lost them both!

i'm actually a proponent of getting another ASAP - but that's because having a new furchild to focus on does wonders in helping my heart to heal. otherwise, i dwell on how much i'm missing those who are gone. but that's best for me - if you don't feel ready, don't let anyone pressure you!
