In August, hubby and I are driving out to Grand Junction and Meeker, CO for his great-grandma's 100th birthday party. We're going to take a week to drive home and see the sights out west and mid-west, since we live in SC and don't often have reason to go out that way! I saw the two recommended routes (a "northern" and "southern", and would probably mainly follow those to see the maximum amount of states. Buuuut, since it will take me forever to figure out what all there is along I-70, I-40, and the more southern travel, I wanted to see if anyone had suggestions.
I definitely want to see Four Corners, since we'll be out there. It's a 4.5 hour drive from Grand Junction since it weaves back and forth
I thought about wanting to see Best Friend's Animal Society, but that is 7 hours from where we'll be, and not sure if hubby wants to go that direction also
I also thought about Los Alamos, NM since Los Alamos National Laboratory is one of our biggest clients where I work and are sending us a huge project this summer - would like to just say "hey I went to Los Alamos, NM" haha. Though if its crazy far out of the way we probably wont. I need to get all ideas together and plan out where they are, drive time, hotels, etc.
Sooo, what all is out in the mid-west along those routes that would be interesting to see?
