Ick Ick Ick. The kittens have fleas. Not many maybe 10 or so, but the little calico has more. Alot more. How do I get rid of them? Sister told me to wash them with Dawn dish-liquid in the sink with warm water. I did to the little calico but it seemed to take alot out of her. Poor baby. =[ I felt so bad afterwards. I dried her as much as I could and killed alot of fleas that were on her but she still has more. I put her back in with momma as she seemed tired and hungry.

What can I do to get rid of the fleas on them? Just keep washing them everyday or so? Or is there any medication I can get to put on them like I would momma. She also needs flea medication, but I was told that I couldn't put in on a nursing cat.

Help please! These boogers are a pain!!

I was going to recommend bathing with dawn too. However there are people here with much more experience than I in how to treat infant kittens with fleas, so I'm sure more help will be coming soon.

Just one caution: never ever ever use an OTC flea treatment on kittens or cats. Once they are 8 weeks old if they are in good health they can be treated with frontline plus, bought from the vet.

But until then I'm sure you'll get some help here soon.

Yes NEVER use otc flea meds..

Until the kittens are 8 weeks old you should use a flea comb. I know it's labor intensive, but that is the way I would do it.

Nothing for mom either other than a flea comb. I would call your vet and get any suggestons from there.

I use Dawn or a mild dish soap, suds up and rinse a few times, and then take a flea comb, sit there with some tissue and your nail, and stab each flea with your thumb nail to kill them. Its not a fun task, but must be done. You will probably have to do this a few days in a row if the fleas are bad enough, to eradicate all of them. Then I put the baby on a heating pad set on low, below a towel or blanket, and let them warm up and dry off.

If you have a bowl of alcohol sitting by you and put everything in it that comes off the kitten and into the comb, it will work as well. There will be eggs that get picked up too and those need to go into the alcohol to kill them. Just make sure to go over them a few times a day and vacuum the house a lot and dump out the canister or throw out the bag each time.

If the kittens have flea so does the mama.. You can use Frontline on a nursing cat.. One time i took 3 weeks old kittens to the vet for fleas and they used a spray on them. I want to say it was frontline but a spray for kittens.. They each had one spray on their belly and on the 15 minute ride home there must have been 100 dead fleas on their blankie.. I know!!! ewe
