Tessie's eye has had more discharge then normal in her left eyes for a couples days now. I really didn't think much of it since she seemed fine otherwise. This morning I woke up and her eye is all watery and glooky looking. The white part of her eye is also tinted red(very slight). She does keep rubbing it with her paw.
I already made an appointment and will be bringing her to the vet at 8 tonight. I hope it's not going to cost too much, I am really low on money this month.
Any idea on what it could be?
Thanks!

Hopefully just a minor infection - probably give you Terrimycin (I usually keep that for minor irritations for the pet's eyes and have used it in the past to clear things up).

Awww, poor thing! The good thing is that you've been watching it and recognize it's time to go to the vet. It's probably some kind of eye infection and you'll get drops or ointment for it. Keep us posted!

I am glad you are off to the vet. I would never put anything in my cats eye without the vet looking at it first. It is probably something minor that can be cleared up with some drops or cream. Has it just started or has the cat always had a runny eye. My cat Mattie has Herpes and her left eye flares up now and then. She gets lysine over her food two times a day, always. Recently she has had a bad flare and the vet gave me some salve for her eye last Friday. It is helping. Good luck.

I agree, never use anything in a cat's eye without a positive diagnoses from the vet. Using an ointment if a cat had a scratch on the cornea would be very bad.

I also have a herpes eyes kitty, Tolly, who gets his l-lysine powder on his food.

Please do keep us updated on Tessie! How old is she?

She will be 6 in September. I hope it's not herpes! Poor girl, I hope it's just an infection.

Many cats carry the virus and never have an outbreak, often if a cat has an outbreak when she is older it is brought on by stress, has Tessie had any stress lately?

Herpes is controllable with the l-lysine supplement, but hopefully she's just got a little infection that will clear right up with treatment.

Hmmm... I did give her a bath last weekend. Poor girls was shaking like crazy. I give her a bath 2 times a year and she always acts the same towards it (kind of scared but not trying to claw off my face). O I hope I didn't do this to her.

Attitude is apparently having a flare of her herpes so lucky her she gets to go to the vet if it doesn't clear soon. The lysine isn't helping at the moment. She also has feline leukemia so usually when she flares unless I know where her eye ointment(I have a standing order at the vet's she has been in so often for eye issues, she 11 months old) is she has to go in(and what do you know I have no clue where it is, haven't needed it since Dec.) Obviously if I notice an ulcer(she's only had 1 and I didn't notice the actual ulcer) she goes in as well.

Hope it's a quick and cheap and easy fix. I know about the shortage of money, I can't afford the vet trip either but off I go if she hasn't cleared or improved by Thurs.

No vet for Tessie last night
.

I came home to get her and her eye looked great! no more goop in her eye and it wasn't watering. I wonder if maybe she just had something in it? The vet said just to keep an eye out and If it happens again to bring her in.

Thanks for all the help!
