OK, here is the situation. Everyone was eating fine. Everything was normal (except that one of my 6 furbabies poop was always runny so I decided to switch to a different dry formula) Anyway, all 6 eat both wet and free feed on dry food. I decided to buy some higher fiber dry food to take care of the one baby that had poop issues. I bought Royal Canin 34 (for extreme hairballs. It had a decent fiber content and my babies all pretty much have hairball issues) Brought home the new food and everyone loved it. Ever since then they have not really wanted to eat their canned food that I give them. A few of them will take a taste then walk off and others will just look at it and then look at me. I don't think any of them have stopped eating completely. Anyway, how do I get them to go back to eating the way they were? It worries me.

Thank you.

I always had that fear so I don't offer dry.

Boy, I don't really know what to tell you. Other than try going back to the old dry and maybe they will fall back into their old pattern.

I guess you will have to weight this better dry vs not as good dry plus wet.
You could try drizzling a low sodium chicken broth w no onions or garlic. Homemade is prob best. But then, they are just eating it because of the chicken stock.

Sorry I wasn't much help. Thats what you get for switching foods and trying to do your best for your kitties!

Did the new food take care of the original problem? If so, I would continue to use it. Are they drinking enough water in addition to the dry? One of the biggest issues with cats on a dry only diet is that they don't get enough water. If you think they're okay with that I wouldn't worry too much about them not eating the wet food.

What wet food are you giving them? Have you tried different flavors or different textures? Try putting out smaller portions. That way at least you're not wasting as much if they don't eat it.

I'm having some similar issues at the moment and I'm afraid it's going to be trial and error to find a solution.
