Did Iams change their recipe?

I've purchased Iams lamb and rice canned pate for my cat the last 3 years and the last 2 times I've bought it, I've noticed they've changed the recipe. It now has what looks like bell pepper bits and smells very very peppery. My cat won't eat it. I've tried to switch her to Organix, she won't eat that. Tried other Iams canned pate and they all seem to have that peppery smell. Anyone else noticing the same issue? If so, find any solutions or can you recommend a brand that has the same consistency and flavor as the original pate?

Iams did have a recipe change I noticed about a year ago ... the few flavors without by products suddenely had them....

Authority may work for you if you have access to a Petsmart

My boys like the Authority brand. They also like Nutro wet - but I am not sure they make a lamb version except I think a senior formula. I know Authority does.

Interesting - because we only get the Lamb Iams in the canned. I haven't picked up any new cans lately, but noticed they were out of Lamb the last few times, so that must have been when they changed it.

However, I've had it in the last 6 months and they eat it - haven't noticed any pepper stuff in it. I will try to buy one can of it next time and see.

I know P&G changed the dry years ago and I quit buying it because the cats didn't want to eat it any more and they tended to throw up more.

I stick mainly to chicken or beef in Wellness and Blue Buffalo, lamb in Max cat and venison in Natural Balance.

They changed the canned formulas when they redesigned the labels.

I think something changed in the dry at the same time, because one of my cats who is very sensitive to changes won't touch their dry anymore either. My other cats just don't eat it, or throw up if they do. My mom's cats will only eat 1 Iams formula now.

I've been having good luck with Purina's canned foods. We also use Eagle Pack canned when I get somewhere with good prices, and Natural Balance L.I.D. Duck canned food. My cats like California Natural salmon & sweet potato canned, but I'm waiting to see if the formula changes with the new ownership before I buy more.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Why they would change their recipe is beyond me. Cats don't like change!! I did discover that the kitten lamb pate is the same consistency as the adult old pate. I'm feeding her temporarily until we find something else.
