RIP Ronnie James Dio

I didn't see this posted yet and know we have quite a few here that like 80s hard rock and metal.

He will be missed.......I always enjoyed his music.

he was one of my favorite singers. now i am glad i went and saw Heaven & Hell last august. i didn't know it was going to be the last time. saw him live 5 times, once with Elf, twice with Heaven & Hell and twice as Dio. he always put on a great show.

My favourite song from him was....HIDE in the RAINBOW!...

His death has hit this house hard. We knew something was wrong when there was a rumor last night, which was squashed by Wendy. But she said something she never had before, "He isn't doing well..." According to her statement today, he passed about an hour after that.

In case you don't know, my husband is the producer of an 80's hard rock/heavy metal weekly radio show and also runs their website. In the Heaven and Hell tour book for their last tour there is one photo of Ronnie James Dio that is credited, the rest were by their photographers. My husband took that photo, and Ronnie picked it out himself (after his contact forwarded the pics to Wendy) to include in the tour book. It's kind of a friend of a friend type of recognition, but it feels like a friend of the family died last last.

Rest well, Ronnie.

I'm crushed. Ronnie James Dio is one of my favorite singers and the man is an absolute legend in music-especially metal. I'm glad I was able to see him live in 2003 when we was opening for Iron Maiden.

A friend (and coworker) called me at work last night and gave me the news, which I passed on to two more friends as work that he couldn't get a hold of. The night has been rather depressing since lost.

RIP, Ronnie. You will be missed.

I grew up with Dio, and play his music to this day. I miss him already.

He was truly a great artist and has influenced so many.

He was supposed to come to Finland on a tour but they cancelled the shows few days ago because he wasn't doing well. I didn't see this one coming though. I was very sad when I read about it yesterday.

Today is a very sad day in metal. Dio was an amazing entertainer and a phenomenal vocalist. He will be missed.

In honor of Dio the second stage for the 2010 Download Festival at Donnington will officially be renamed "The Ronnie James Dio Stage".
